General duties and responsibilities:
- Works directly with children in Nabad Centre (ITS), carrying out PSS, structured PSS, recreational, and awareness sessions activities with them, involving parents and community members when appropriate.
- Ensures that child protection principles are understood, enacted, maintained and enforced in Nabad Centers.
- He/she is the visible link between Nabad Centre and the community.
- Informs supervisors about any difficulty met in Nabad activities implementation.
- Acts in the best interests of the child
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Child Friendly Spaces:
- Assists, plans, organize and participate in activities with the children.
- Maintain the daily attendance register and monthly inventory sheet.
- Ensures children under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activities.
- Follows security rules in case of high and imminent danger, informs immediately the competent authorities or security representatives from the village.
- Work with children and for children. During all the time with the children:
a. Welcome them
b. listen to them
c. play with them
d. guide them
e. work hard to make them feel comfortable and happy
- Plan and manages activities that are:
a. various
b. safe
c. adapted to the age of the children
d. adapted to the physical and mental capacities of the children
e. adapted to the needs of the children
f. adapted to the number of children attending the centre
- Facilitates and encourages the participation of all children, notably the most vulnerable ones, ensuring proper attention is paid to their specific emotional and physical needs / difficulties.
- Be available for eventual training provided by Nabad or donor
- Ensure that the provided centre material is accounted for and secured at the end of each day.
- Case Management:
- Contributes to the identification of project targeted children and reports identified cases to Nabad officers for support or referral to child protection resources.
- Accomplishes other assignments given by supervisors or other professionals intervening in the center (e.g. trainers).
- Administration:
- Ensure that a monthly expenditure sheet is prepared and delivered to Nabad of each month.
Reporting: Provide in respect of the following timeline, the program activities (weekly report of daily activities), monitoring tool (weekly filled), family visit and questionnaire (bi-weekly).
- Collect from other PSS Assistants information about vulnerable cases.
- Coordinate and write the weekly evaluation report.
- Meeting
- Be available for participates in meeting in the center or Nabad Office/ Donor.
- Meets with other program staff as required.
Any change to the proposed activities should be discussed with the Nabad team leader
A high degree of flexibility on the part of all staff is expected in order to respond to the ever-evolving situation. This job description may change based on the situation in the field. He/she can be asked required to perform other related duties as identified by his supervisor.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education degree: Bachelor or University Degree in social work or relevant field.
- Language skills: Fluent in Arabic and English (speaking/ reading/ writing).
- Computer skills: Very good knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Preferable Valid driving license
- Experience in working with children preferably (CP)
- Field work experience is a must
