Community Health Specialist

Role and Responsibilities    

1. To ensure the high-quality of the community health component of the project implementation, by training the Community Health Supervisors, Programmed team and provision of support in technical aspects. 

2. Responsible for the development of strategy to be used, sop and tor to develop community health interventions AND COMMUNITY mobilization events/campaigns on health issues.

3. To strengthen coordination between health actors implementing projects in the community and others stakeholders at central level. 

4. To report accurately to the health coordinator against targets, achievements, success stories of the project implementation and production of relevant information about the project activities.

 

Objective 1: To ensure the high-quality of the community health component of the project implementation as per PU-AMI Health Strategy, by training the Community Health Supervisors, Programme team and provision of support in technical aspects in community’s activities. Under the direct supervision of the Health Coordinator s/he is responsible for:

 

  • S/he is accountable for the efficient implementation of the projects at community level in coordination with the bases (Team Manager Community, Health Community Supervisors) and guarantees that the objectives and results of the projects are reached.
  • S/he will build the capacity of the key programme staff by providing training sessions on health as described in the training plan.
  • S/he is responsible for the development of the all-educational material, ToR, SOP and any support tool needed according to the strategy developed to ensure the high quality of community health program and soft components activities across projects.
  • S/he together with, MEAL Department provides feedbacks for the development of KAP or other surveys needs to measure the impact of intervention.
  • S/he will monitor the technical aspects of the community health activities and ensure the quality and relevance of community health intervention.
  • S/he preventively identifies issues, gaps and delays that may impede the correct implementation of the projects and proposes mitigation plans to the Health Coordinator.
  • S/he supports analysis of information from the field - identified lessons learnt and integrate them in the action plan for improvement
  • S/he will oversee the organization develop to implement the community mobilization events or campaigns with health partners health as per master plan across the country. 

 

Objective 2: To strengthen coordination, representation at central level between health actors/stakeholders implementing community health projects.  Under the supervision of the Health Coordinator, S/he will represent PU-AMI during external bilateral and multilateral meetings and coordinate regularly with health actors, stakeholders and Partners.

 

  • S/he will strengthen coordination between health actors implementing community health projects by sharing accurate up to date information on the services provided.
  • S/he will monitor challenges to health access and share useful information on these services to her/his field team.
  • S/he will make sure to provide minutes to the Health Coordinator of all the meetings attended and raise any issue that is in PU-AMI interest.

 

Objective 3: To report accurately to the Health Coordinator against targets, achievements, success stories of the project implementation and production of relevant information about the project activities.

 

  • S/he will regularly provide reports to the Health Coordinator on training, staff capacity building and technical support provided to the bases running  community health activities.
  • S/he will write monthly reports on the activities implemented as requested by the Health Coordinator according to the project and management indicators.
  • S/he will support the Health Coordinator in providing sufficient and detailed information for program reporting to donors and PU-AMI HQs.
  • Based on the on-going monitoring of the activities, s/he will ensure lessons learnt and success stories from the project are documented and reported.
  • S/he understands the needs and humanitarian response and Donors’ strategies, participates in the strategy development and proposes new interventions according to needs identified in his/her field of operations.
