Psychologist for Safe Spaces-Women & Girls

Duty Details

Linking this role to the on ground impacts that Tdh is aiming to create for children.  Contribute to children's growth and development and that of his/her family through direct counseling and technical support to field teams.

Psychological counseling activities for the beneficiaries

Provide psychological care for children living on the sites through setting up assistance suitable for their specific needs

Assess and report the most serious cases which require specific actions or responses

Collaborate with parents and caregivers to ensure the child's wellness and progress

Use creative and multiple approaches in therapy: The key is to be flexible and to adapt the approach to the child best interest. Focus on the use of play therapy as an effective treatment for child clients, including dolls, blocks, dolls, and technical supplies, to help children recognize and express their feelings.

Adapt to Tdh's outreach approach: go to the child's house for therapy sessions

Technical advice to the implementation  teams

Work closely with the project staff and the partners involved to resolve the children's problems

Coordination functions and attend the case management meeting of the cases to which both are involved.

Support the facilitators (Carers, Community Facilitators, advisors) in organising and running dedicated children's areas by initiating activities, taking into account the needs of the children (recreational 

and sports activities, activities facilitating integration, family and community mediation, the socialisation of children with specific needs, etc.)

Participate / provide technical support in formulating sensitive themes and support strategies for the children on the sites

Provide support to colleagues in identifying situations requiring intervention by a psychologist; by preparing a small monthly session (eg during a case management meeting) on situations that can be encountered and how to intervene with them

Guidelines development and reporting

Set up effective methodological tools for the psychological assessment of children taking into account the context

psychologist prepare a special tool put by the social worker  and psychological specialist in their files  when the file is closed.

 Provides the points that the psychologist worked on during the intervention period in general; and he is aware and approves that the file is closed.

Create and update the child's psychology file in order to report or track his/her psychological progress

Write technical reports when necessary to support the case management team (Reports to UPEL for example etc..)

Organistional Policies

Respects the Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) and its principles of child protection, ensuring the policy’s implementation and prompt notification of the CSP Focal Point with any information regarding potential breachs of the policy;

Is aware of, abides by and promotes the practices and values set out in all other Tdh policies and procedures such as the Internal Regualtions, Standard Operating Procedures and other policies.

Undertake all other duties that may be requested by the line-manager and that are compatible with the job.
