Data Scientist at Embrace

Major Tasks and Responsibilities 

• Detect, prioritize, frame, and structure complex and ambiguous challenges in coordination with researchers. Assess problems to identify suitable tools and approaches needed to reach solutions.
• Help with defining metrics to support the generation of valuable research insights.
• Work alongside broader team to design, facilitate, and support in data collection and analysis.
• Pinpoint relevant data sources, automate collection processes, and process structured and unstructured data.
• Provide quality oversight and assurance of data collection to ensure the completeness, accuracy, robustness, and timely production of all reports.
• Support in the presentation of findings, conclusions, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders as needed
• Lead the development of coding frameworks for the automation of data management and analysis processes.
• Maintain complex end-to-end data pipeline to monitor, connect, and transform data from data sources to match the format and schema of its destination.
• Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms using algorithmic, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and statistical tools.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, and update models and algorithms.
• Analyze data to extract insights including data trends, patterns, and relationships.
• Produce research, monitoring, and evaluation reports tailored to stakeholders considering their technical background.
• Train field officers and other relevant staff on the use of data collection methods, tools, and processes.
• Research best practices and technologies in the data science field.
• Test new methods to optimize data solutions.
• Implement improvements pertaining to data collection and analysis techniques.
• Continuously improve own skills and knowledge.
• Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals.

QUALIFICATONS

1. Critical Skills

• Tech Savvy: programming languages (e.g. Python and SQL), and statistical packages (e.g. SPSS, STATA, and R)
• Advanced Excel skills

• Experience leveraging and managing large datasets.
• Experience using Google Workspace (Google Forms, Google Sheets)
• Experience working with CRMs or EHRs
• Fluency in English and Arabic.

2. Behavioral Skills

• Demonstrates critical reasoning and ability to problem solve independently and efficiently.
• Demonstrates excellent organization and time management skills.
