Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Operational Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Prepare accounting transactions in an accurate and timely manner 
  2. Reconcile checking account with the bank statement monthly for proper account balance and to identify any errors. To correct entries directly to and identify the source of each adjustment. 
  3. Review, analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts for accuracy and confer with HQ Finance regarding any items not fully understood.
  4. Prepare and record all necessary journal entries to reflect correct accounting records
  5. Prepare Income Tax Returns
  6. Review and reconcile Payroll records and corresponding Tax Returns
  7. Investigate any discrepancies resulting from bank account reconciliation and communicate results and recommendations to HQ Finance 
  8. Perform sufficient controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of the Society’s revenues at the branch level. 
  9. Participate in inventory counts on periodic basis
  10. Follow-up on outstanding payments
  11. Prepare the depreciation calculation and computation in order to ensure that it is properly done and booked on the General Ledger
  12. Reconcile the Society’s accounts with suppliers’ accounts on a regular basis; investigate any resulting discrepancies and communicate results to the Finance HQ
  13. File all supporting documents
  14. Implement internal accounting controls designed to safeguard the assets of the Society and ensure the validity and accuracy of the Society’s financial information 
  15. Inform the Chief Accountant & Finance Director of the progress of work as well as obtain their advice and guidance as needed
  16. Regularly brief the head of branch on the financial situation of the branch and assist the head of branch in the analysis and interpretation of the financial reports  
  17. Provide the Finance team with any required information as requested
  18. Able to meet all financial reporting deadlines as set by LRC Finance HQ
