Project Overview
Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. In addition to other interventions in the area AND is currently working on youth empowerment and inclusion in the public sphere, especially in terms of community involvement, peace building…. Thus, AND, in partnership with World Vision International (WVI) will work with underprivileged youth on the Peace Road project.
Areas of Responsibility: Animator
- Attend the trainings and follow the curriculum provided by WVI throughout the implementation of the project
- Support the outreach team in mapping areas and enrolling youth in psychosocial support activities
- Work directly with youth in a community center, carrying out psychosocial activities.
- Plan, organize and run activities with youth while facilitating and encouraging the participation of all youth.
- Ensure activities run in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
- Ensure that youth are all involved in the activity and that there is possibility for boys and girls to work both together and in gender-based group.
- Deal with difficult behaviours (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) and understand the reason behind the behaviour to positively communicate with the situation.
- Handle logistics responsibilities as necessary
- Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of Child Protection and confidentiality, working with refugee and host communities with sensitivity
- Identify risks affecting youth participation and raise them to the project manager.
- Identify safety issues and follow-up with the center supervisor on the safety and security of the chosen locations.
- Collect data on the activities organized and ensure that all the relevant forms are duly filled
- Ensure all project means of verifications including registration sheets, attendance sheets, evaluation documents… are in order.
- Fill and archive specific forms weekly reporting and/or referrals, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
- Support the project team in the development of different project reports.
Knowledge on Child Protection and Psychosocial Support Programs
- Bachelor degree in a social development field
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to create and work as a team.
- Creative and able to come up, embrace and coordinate innovative thinking, and problem solving skills.
- One-year work experience in implementing activities with youth
- Demonstrated understanding of working with youth and particularly vulnerable youth
- Knowledge of English is a plus
- Knowledge of word and excel is a plus
Work Environment:
- 75% field work and 25% Office work.
- Position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular office hours occasionally.
Reporting
The animator shall report to the project coordinator.
