Job Summary

 

To safely drive and ensure proper maintenance of Concern vehicles as per Concern Transport regulations.  This includes ensuring vehicle is only used for official /approved trips; maintaining vehicle log books; ensuring regular vehicle servicing is carried out; liaising with relevant vehicle hire company; reporting of any fault or accident involving the vehicle to the transport supervisor ; supervising any vehicle repairs; keeping vehicle clean and tidy;  ensuring all passengers and cargo are carried safely. Carrying out administrative assignments like collection/payment of bills/quotations, managing receipts, storage, safe-keeping and delivery of goods, tools and equipment used by Concern Worldwide.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. To safely drive Concern’s rented vehicles for official /approved trips following official procedures.
  2. To drive Concern rented vehicle according to Lebanese traffic laws and regulations
  3. To report any technical fault in the vehicle, supervise the repairs/maintenance work as required.
  4. Immediately report any accident or security incident/risk to supervisor, vehicle rental company and the insurance company.
  5. To be responsible for the security of the vehicle on duty and to ensure no unauthorized person drives official vehicles.
  6. To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Concern Code of Conduct and its associated policies.
  7. Perform routine and timely check of vehicle roadworthiness as per following checklist, unless these are carried out by hire company

 

 

 

 

 

 

Administrative responsibilities

 

  1. Receive/collect/deliver requests for quotes as and when requested by the Logistics department in Halba.
  2. Deliver/collect paper work to NGO’s, Government Offices, UN and private setups as and when instructed.
  3. Collect/drop visitors to and from the airport and provide necessary guidance and support.
  4. Make petty cash payments for the Beirut office such as cable TV, internet, electricity etc and make a claim against the payments.
  5. Be able to do basic repair and maintenance of the Beirut office and if necessary arrange a technician to do the same.
  6. Arrange water / gas for the Beirut Office as and when required.
  7. Immediately notify/update manager in case of sensitive security situations.

 

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience and Attitude Required

  1. The driver must be based in Beirut area
  2. Previous experience working in office administration is desirable
  3. A Valid Public Driving License and clean driving record
  4. At least three  years driving experience including experience of driving 2x4 and 4x4 vehicles in difficult terrain
  5. A clean police record
  6. Familiarity with defensive driving techniques
  7. Familiarity with northern Lebanon and Beirut
  8. Fluency in Arabic and good in English (spoken and written)
  9. Willing to work in the field as per organizational need including overnight stays from home base and willing to work on weekends if required
  10. Commitment to humanitarian principles and values
