Child protection Community Event planner

CP Community Event Planner will coach/facilitate CP community event initiatives led by the CP community based child protection committees and monitor its progress. The community event planner should substantial experience in planning and organising child protection sensatization related initiatives .

The responsibility of the Community Event Planner includes but is not limited to the following tasks:

• identify the objectives of the event and determine the requirements that must be met to accomplish those objectives.
• Provide IEC materials when necessary.
• co-ordinate services (for example, catering, signage, displays, audio-visual equipment, printing, security) and deal with any problems that arise
• co-ordinate decor design and special effects
• plan entertainment and social gatherings for participants
• hire, train and supervise students and support staff
• Ability to delegate event planning tasks to other staff members where necessary.
• Strong knowledge of venues and vendor offerings while taking clients on tours of venue possibilities.

  Skills:

• Communication: Event coordinators talk to clients, listening to their needs and presenting ideas and solutions to their requirements. They also work with suppliers, contractors, employees, wait staff and many other parties at the same time. Customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
• Calm Under Pressure: Many things can go wrong during an event, and something eventually will. Event coordinators need to remain calm during crisis and the high pressure of an event in progress.
• Negotiation Skills: Event coordinators will need negotiation skills to work out prices with clients and contractors.
• Organization: Many things happen all at once at meetings. Event coordinators need to stay focused and organized so that the event goes off without a hitch.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Inevitably, something will go wrong at an event. Being able to quickly solve the issue is required.
