Outreach and Interpreter Volunteer

Cesvi in Lebanon Cesvi has been active in Lebanon since 2001 in different areas: North, South, Mount Lebanon, Nabatieh and Beirut. Funded by institutional donors and private foundations, Cesvi's projects cover a broad range of sectors - such as livelihoods, food security, education and emergency assistance - all with a crosscutting focus on protection. Since 2013 Cesvi has been responding to the spillover of the Syrian Crisis, paying special attention to Livelihood and Protection sectors, in close collaboration with local authorities, partners, CSOs, international agencies and other stakeholders. Under the UNICEF-funded project “Vocational Training Program for Youth in Lebanon”- phase 2, Cesvi aims to harness the potential of youth through skills development and creation of income-generating opportunities. In addition, Cesvi has developed a methodology to strengthen capacities of local Community-based Organizations (CBOs) to enable them address local needs in a more effective manner.

Overall responsibilities

The Outreach and Interpreter Volunteer will perform the following tasks:

  • Assist the MEAL and Capacity Building officer during the implementation of a self-assessment exercise targeting selected Community Based Organizations (CBOs),
  • Conduct translations between Arabic and English, when necessary, of both documents and in-person meetings with projects partners,
  • Assist the MEAL and Capacity Building Officer in the course of interviews and focus groups discussions with CBOs managers, staff and beneficiaries,
  • Assist the MEAL and Capacity Building officer in the analysis and reviewing of CBOs organizational documents as well as analysis and reviewing of interviewees’ answers,
  • In coordination with the MEAL and Capacity Building officer and the Admin and Finance Officer, assist in the organization of the logistics of all activities and field visits.

 

Requirements

Knowledge/Experience

Volunteer must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to establish positive relationships with people at all levels; to show sensitivity and integrity. In addition, the volunteer must be skilled in the use of Spreadsheets, Word processing, calendar, e-mail and data entry.

 

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: be able to clearly articulate information in both English and Arabic.
  • Organizational Skills: be able to develop and respect work plans, to manage time effectively, to meet deadlines and plan field visits.
  • Interpersonal Skills: be sensitive to the local context and able to build positive relationships with project beneficiaries.
