Psychologist

As part of the School Snacks and Nutrition Education Program, United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) is organizing summer day camps for Lebanese and Syrian students aged 11 to 14 years old, attending public schools, in order to raise awareness on nutrition and child health through interactive sessions and activities. A total of 20-22 camps will be held across Lebanon (North Lebanon, Bekaa, South and Mount Lebanon) for 15 working days each, over the months of July, August and September 2019, from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM as follows:

  • 1 July till 19 July (excluding weekends)
  • 22 July till 9 August (excluding weekends)
  • 19 August till 6 September (excluding weekends)
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Develop psychosocial session plans and psychosocial activities for children aged 11-14 years old, in accordance with IOCC.
  • Attend 4-5 days per camp to conduct sessions and activities (option of attending more than one camp, if possible)
  • Identify protection concerns (distress, SGBV, domestic violence) and make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right
  • Build the capacity of the field staff on psychological issues, when necessary.
  • Do observation and follow-up with the relevant IOCC staff on challenging cases.
  • Ensure timely reporting of the activities to the Project Manager.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and initiative taker. 
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
  • Advanced knowledge in psychosocial / psychological interventions (Child protection, Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), art therapy etc...)
  • Dynamic personality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Experience:

  • 1 year of work experience.
  • Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in working with children and vulnerable populations is an advantage.

 

Working Conditions

  • Stationed in the field with possible visits to the office.
