Deputy Health and Nutrition Coordinator

POSITON SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES AND TASKS.

Objective 1: Continuously analyse the health & nutrition programming context

Tasks:

  • Monitor the relevant policy documents and key initiatives by the government and other actors (e.g. donors, UN agencies) in Lebanon, summarise essential aspects and feed into the mission’s IM tools, as required.
  • Regularly review & summarise trends in health and nutrition data from external sources and AAH programmes
  • Using this data, recommend practical adapations to project activities and approaches, as appropriate, feeding into AAH strategies and proposals
     

Objective 2: Support the design and implementation of health and nutrition programming

Tasks:

  • Keep abreast of best practice in health and nutrition programming and and provide up-to-date technical advice to project teams in coordination with the Health & Nutrition Coordinator
  • Contribute to the development of new projects/ programmes and related proposals
  • Provide dynamic training and ongoing capacity building of project staff in key technical areas
  • Support the writing of donor reports/ updates
  • Support the recruitment of new staff as required
  • Support the integration of nutrition activities with other sectoral interventions (WASH, livelihoods, protection)
  • Support the integration of cross-cutting issues (e.g. gender, protection) into nutrition activities in coordination and consultation with other technical departments.
  • Carry out any other tasks required to deliver effective health & nutrition programming
     

Objective 3: Support monitoring, evaluation, accountability and generation of learning within the health and nutrition programmes

Tasks:

  • Support the development of logframes and M&E plans for health and nutrition projects in coordination with the MEAL department
  • Support the monitoring of project activities against the project workplan.
  • Support the regular collection and analysis of key project indicators against agreed targets in conjunction with the MEAL department
  • Support the documentation and synthesis of project results and learning in clear language for various audiences
     

Objective 4: Support the development and roll out of AAH strategies for improved health and nutrition.

Tasks:

  • Support the identification of AAH’s health and nutrition priorities and added value in Lebanon
  • Support the development / revision of AAH health and nutrition strategy, including research on specific topics / key areas, as needed
  • Contribute to the development of the country strategic plan and other sectoral strategies with a health and nutrition lens.
     

Objective 5: Support coordination and representation in various fora

Tasks:

  • Where appropriate take the lead or stand in as representative for AAH in various Working Groups and Task Forces
  • Coordinate regularly with other NGOs, government departments and other actors as appropriate

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Training: Masters in Nutrition, Public Health or related field

Technical specific knowledge: Nutrition/ Public Health, particularly promotion of infant and young child feeding

Previous experience (years): At least three years working professionally in the nutrition/ public health sector

Humanitarian sector knowledge:Knowledge of the humanitarian sector.

Desireable (but not required): Experience in the NGO or volunteer sector, particularly working with Syrian Refugees a plus

Organization knowledge: Desireable (but not required): Knowledge / experience in Action Against Hunger or similar NGO a plus

Languages: Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English (French/ Spanish an asset)

IT systems: Microsoft word, excel, PPt, statistical analysis software a plus.

Mobility (national/ internacional): Frequent travel to programme bases (Zahle & Tyre) and field programmes in Beqaa Valley and South Lebanon

Commitment to Gender Equality

Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.

 

REMUNERATION PACKAGE:

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:

Based in: Beirut

Area: Nutrition and Health

Formal work contract: 5 months 

Salary: from 2191 USD to 2472 USD  gross per month according to candidate’s previous experience (according to standard list of Action Against Hunger - Spain). Action Against Hunger - Spain remuneration system allows a salary progression based on the annual development appraisal.

LBP 8,000 daily transportation allowance on working days
