Short term Self Defense Trainer

Aiming at strengthening the Social Development Center (SDC) and NGOs capacities of response to the increasing needs, and in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the UN coordination system, SIF strategy intends to follow up and respect the recommendation of the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan 2017-2020.

In this regards, SIF has been implementing a Child Protection Program in the SDCs and in NGOs of Mount Lebanon since May 2016, providing community based psychosocial support to children, youth and caregivers and specific courses and workshops for youth and caregivers. These activities empower beneficiaries in terms of protection, encourage peace, intercultural dialogue and respect for diversity in a safe environment where they feel comfortable and learn new interesting things about life and themselves.

The final evaluation of the 2018 project revealed the positive outcomes of the activities on the beneficiaries: an increase in self-esteem, in wellbeing, improved interactions within the community and family members, all of this contributing to fostering resilience and social stability.

In 2019, as requested by our partners and the beneficiaries, SIF plans to extend and strengthen the support to the beneficiaries. A package of services will be provided:

  • Caregivers will have the possibility to participate to several activities: parenting program /

workshops to enhance their livelihood, classes to gain new skills (English for example), parenting support group (to socialize and share with peers their experience).

  • Youth will participate to life skills training through Sport for Development, theatre, music, etc.;
  • Children will continue benefiting from regular psycho social support, in safe spaces,
