Design Officer

Description

The Design Officer will work on implementing and expanding the organization’s communications strategy to ensure our work reaches new audiences through the effective use of design. The priority of this job will be in building on INARA’s existing brand guidelines in order to improve the visual communications of what INARA does as an organization.

This is a part time position (two days a week). 

Responsibilites

• Revise the current brand guidelines, updating them to better reflect INARA’s work with war wounded refugee children
• Develop infographics for use on all INARA communications channels in order to demonstrate the impact of INARA’s work
• Assist the Content Creator on videos – incorporating animation and infographics into our video content
• Leading on developing all marketing materials – as well as sending materials to print (working in line with our Procurement guidelines)
• Work within the communications teams to develop content ideas for campaigns (particularly our Christmas and Ramadan Appeals)
• Work closely with the Communications Manager on the website, trying to find ways of conveying information visually, along with better conveying INARA’s brand on the website
• Manage relationships with printers in both Lebanon and globally
• Work on all publications (including Annual Report and other publications)
• Lead on all design requests from across the INARA team (including Fundraising, Casework, and Management teams)
• Providing design advice to all members of INARA staff as and when they need it
• Contributing towards the Communications strategy in line with the Communications Manager
• Uploading design content onto the website using our content management system Squarespace.
• Reporting to the Communications Manager on a regular basis
• Communication with the team using email and other online communication tools
• Requests approval for all payments from the Country Manager.

Requirements

Essential:

• Bachelor’s Degree in the field of design
• At least one year relevant experience working in design
• Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English
• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability to different environments
• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic to communicate to a wide range of actors
• A demonstrable understanding of the current socio-political context and refugee crises in Lebanon and Syria
• Experience and familiarity with design systems, including Adobe Premiere, InDesign, and Photoshop
• Ability to multitask and strong organizational skills.

Desirable:

• Experience of using content management systems to upload content on the web. Squarespace would be ideal, but other systems are just as valid
• Experience working in design in the humanitarian sector
• Experience of working with statistics.
