Movement Partnership Officer

PURPOSE OF THE FUNCTION

Movement Partnership Officer contributes to developing and implementing the ICRC regional movement objectives vis-à-vis Federation MENA, the MENA national societies and the partnering national societies (PNS) active in the region, in line with the ICRC’s Movement policies and in consultation with the local operating National Society (NS).

S/he contributes to building positive relationships between the ICRC and the other Movement components to promote better partnership and movement coordination.

S/he supports the development and implementation of the ICRC regional movement initiatives, including but not limited to files under SMCC, NSD/Safer Access, partnerships, movement coordination

YOUR PROFILE

6-9 years’ experience in a field relevant to Movement Cooperation (inside or outside ICRC)

Minimum 3-5 years' experience as Movement Cooperation Officer 2 or international humanitarian work experience with the ICRC or any other Movement Component (NS and/or International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies).

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

University Degree. Master’s Degree an asset.

Excellent command (spoken and written) in English and Arabic. Computer proficiency.

Strong understanding of the RCRC Movement in the MENA region Good communication & Negotiation skills.

Strong partnership management capacities and strategic thinking skills.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Contributes to the ICRC understanding of the institution capacity of the MENA NS, their operational priorities, and to support the analysis of the gaps, priorities and needs.

    Creates and maintains an overview of the Movement partners (IFRC / PNS) efforts in their partnership with MENA NS (operational programs, institutional development, capacity building); and provide internal analysis / strategy for the ICRC to identify relevant contexts for enhancing our partnership with various Movement partners.

    Supports the ICRC delegations to enhance the operational partnership with MENA NSs and in specific contexts and if applicable, contributes to the ICRC’s efforts in the design and development of new partnership modalities with IFRC/PNS, and to facilitate IFRC/PNS support.

   Develops the partnership skills of the ICRC and Movement partners and ensures that all operational staff within the ICRC are aware of the Movement’s activities in the country and that they integrate that knowledge into their plans and operational strategies.

   Contributes to developing a movement coordinated approach towards MENA NS in NS development by enhancing dialogues with IFRC/PNSs in the common understanding of MENA NS development needs; and if applicable, to help identify areas /thematic of IFRC/PNS support.

Relationships:

Internally, interacts with the Movement Cooperation team and other staff who work with Movement partners.

Externally, develops and maintains a network of contacts within operating and participating NSs and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies at the technical and management levels.
