Description:
The Medical Advisor will work under the direct supervision and reports to the Senior Medical Advisor. S/he will work part-time providing technical oversight of new project that aim to improve coverage of surgeries for children with congenital malformation and treatment of critical chronic conditions in all areas.
S/he is a member of the health team that includes him/herself and the Project officer, Senior Medical Advisor, and Health Coordinator.
Coordination Field Visits
S/he will review the schedule of visits to the PHCCs/hospitals adjusting as necessary in coordination with the project officer
Conduct field visits to selected PHCCs / hospitals as scheduled
Patient Case Management
Communicate with referring physician, when needed, to evaluate the details of the proposed procedure/surgery and expected outcome
Communicate with the treating physician to determine module and pathway for treatment\surgery, follow up consultations, prescription, and medication provision where applicable
Report, on the spot, to IMC senior medical advisor any medical complication arising during patient care (at any phase)
Report to IMC Health Coordinator any challenges in implementation, procedural or ethical errors, or gaps occurring during implementation of the program
Clinical Duties Patient Clinical Assessment
S/he will screen and assess referred patients, documenting fully the clinical findings and suggested intervention (Diagnostics, surgery, procedure, second-opinion consultation...)
Ensure that the medical record of each patient is complete and that documentation is of good quality
Patient Follow up
S/he will provide timely follow up on patients that require consultation with a specialist, making sure that the referral mechanism is complete and that the medical decision is sound, keeping documents of all referrals within medical records.
Follow up on the medical status of every patient postoperative/post procedure, documenting information obtained, and ensuring the presence of complete diagnostics and medical reports, including surgeon’s report of the patient inside the medical record
Coordinate with the community team to ensure fulfilling any need for patient/caregiver support after the procedure, regarding patient education and medical instructions
Reporting
S/he will report, at the end of the project, to IMC on the final medial status of each patient using a pre-post clinical scoring form
General
Perform other duties as requested by line manager
Adhere to all of IMC’s policies and procedures, including Code of Conduct and Security SOPs
Minimum Qualifications
Academic and professional
Possession of a Medical Doctor degree (Family Medicine Specialty), preferable to have a specialty in general surgery
License to practice medicine in Lebanon and a registered member of the Lebanese Order of Physicians
Experience
A minimum of 3 - 5 years of satisfactory working experience as a practicing physician, preferably with an NGO
Language
Good command of written and spoken Arabic and English

Excellent communication skills
Highly Organized
Able to work within a team and under stress
Other Qualifications
Good command of Microsoft Word, Excel for reporting
Experience in working closely with community members throughout a program cycle
Experience in or understanding of program accountability principles
Knowledge of, respect and empathy for the communities we are working with
Commitment to championing community and partner points of view
Strong understanding of the project cycle and of M&E systems
Good interpersonal and influencing skills
Non-discriminatory and readiness to involve men, women, girls and boys from diverse backgrounds, particularly the most marginalized segments of the community
Very good listening and facilitation skills – capable of managing and facilitating group discussions with program participants, local officials, partners and all levels of staff
Ability to mobilize people – to develop and maintain relationships with staff and communities to ensure their participation in International Medical Corps ways of working
