1.  Project Background

The Lebanon Community Support Program (CSP) is a multi-year project funded by USAID to support municipalities and underserved and vulnerable communities in providing better services and enhanced economic opportunities to improve lives and reduce tensions that contribute to conflict and violence, primarily in Lebanon’s North, South, and Beqaa regions. Under Task Order No. 4 (TO 4), the project will provide technical assistance and other support to improve labor skills and job placement opportunities through partnerships with the private sector, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) organizations, municipalities, and other public sector entities.  The main objective of this 3-year task order is to improve skills and job placement opportunities for beneficiaries from vulnerable communities.

 

2.  Summary of Position

The Workforce Development Coordinator will provide logistical and administrative support for all workforce development activities, including outreach and event planning and coordination with service providers to ensure smooth, timely delivery.  The Workforce Development Coordinator will also work with the Scholarship Director and Admissions Officer to help administer the scholarship and internship program in partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB).  The Workforce Development Coordinator will collaborate with the TO 1 operations team to plan and implement events and activities as needed.

 

           3.  Specific Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Support all logistical preparations for TO 4 trainings, workshops, conferences, working groups, and project events, such as arranging venues and catering services;
  • Prepare requests for funds for training, workshop, and meeting expenses as per the approved budget, including distributing per diem and travel stipends and booking lodging for participants and staff who are traveling for the project;
  • Ensure necessary printed materials and stationery are available for all events (in accordance with USAID procurement requirements) and that digital and visual equipment is set-up and running during trainings and other events;
  • Support the Scholarship Director and Admissions Officer in the administration of the scholarship program, including the processing, tracking, and filing of applications;
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Scholarship Director or TO 4 Director

 

4.  Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least three years of work experience in the relief and development sector in Lebanon on projects funded by international donors, with USAID-experience preferred;
  • Professional experience in project administration or program management, with familiarity and experience working on workforce development or scholarship management activities preferred
  • Proven track record of success in organizing, planning, and executing large events;
  • Experience liaising with TVETs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and/or university staff and students preferred;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and with timeliness with various stakeholders including senior leadership, community members, project partners, and other relevant parties;
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills with demonstrated aptitude for teamwork;
  • Knowledge of USAID’s rules, regulations and procurement practices preferred;
  • Experience working across Lebanon, specifically vulnerable communities in the North, Beqaa and South regions;
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English.

 

              5.  Location of the Assignment

The Workforce Development Coordinator will be based in CSP’s main office space in Beirut and will be expected to travel to CSP’s areas of operation throughout the country as needed.

 

             6.  Reporting

The Workforce Development Coordinator will report directly to the Scholarship Director.
