AMURT Lebanon Background:

AMURT’s mission is to help improve the quality of life for the poor and disadvantaged people of the world, and those affected by calamity and conflict. It aims to assist individuals and communities to secure life’s necessities and to gain greater social and economic fulfillment, while honoring individuals’ customs, language, and religious beliefs.

AMURT Lebanon registered in 2012 as an independent charitable organization and is affiliated with the AMURT Global Network, headquartered in Washington, USA.

Since 2012, AMURT has been addressing the Syrian crisis and its effects, as well as hardships the Lebanese community is experiencing. Its programs have ranged from disaster relief and emergency response, to psychosocial support, diverse education programs, child protection, social stability, and is currently focusing on the livelihoods sector.

Youth Media Club (YMC):

Under this current project, funded by KNH Germany, 20 youths between 15 and 25 years old are provided a safe and free space, conducive to self-expression, creativity and team work and the opportunity to learn different media-related topics and gain relevant life and thematic skills (examples: know-how of report writing, interviewing, script writing, photography, videography and theater). The Youth media club provides the youth with needed tools and facilitates their access to media platforms so they can enjoy a ‘’ free flow of ideas by word and image’’, share their thoughts and concerns, and tell the world, in their own words, using their unique touches.

Job Purpose:                                                                                                                   

Work with the YMC Project Coordinator to support project activities and assist in diverse tasks. The Project Officer works in various fields and coordinates with project focal points, as agreed upon with the YMC Project Coordinator according to the project activities’ needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The main tasks & responsibilities are, but not limited to, the following:

• Assist the trainer(s) with the courses logistics preparation.
• Support the trainer(s) in class with the course administration.
• Take notes of all activities, discussions, ideas, and plans during the courses.
• Ensure all media-related items are stored and well-preserved.
• Assist the Project Coordinator in weekly, monthly, and end of project reports.
• Keep a daily track of youth’s attendance and follow up with their parents if needed.
• Coordinate with bus driver(s) whenever needed.
• Accompany youth on the bus if needed.
• Ensure that all records and documents are well-organized and filed.
• Track AMURT’s assets used during the project.
• Others as assigned by the YMC Project Coordinator and agreed upon.
