Public Health Officer

PHCCs-related deliverables

  • In coordination with the consortium field staff, the job holder should conduct multi-sectoral assessments in collective shelters and substandard buildings, and develop action plans to address the identified health and non-health needs.
  • Conduct a service mapping in the operational areas of RI through coordination meetings with the municipalities, local and International NGOs and other parties as required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while working or coordinating with beneficiaries, their family members, any internal or external party; any incident or work-related conflict should be immediately reported to the Program Manager. The Job holder should avoid going into any work-related communication which might jeopardize the relationship of RI with any party; 
  • The job holder should demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances; 
  • The job holder must participate in the development of weekly and monthly reports that will be submitted to the Health Program Coordinator while emphasizing quality and accuracy at all times;

 

Miscellaneous

  • Closely monitor the epidemiological situation in the catchment area of RI’s operational areas with the aim of timely responding to all  health related emergencies, including controlling the prevention and spread of communicable diseases in the targeted areas and strengthening the awareness raising activities in host communities through the Social Worker and Community Health Workers (CHWs) to prevent outbreaks;
  • Actively participate and support the campaigns launched by the sector or the ministry;
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings when requested by the Program Manager;
  • Coordinate closely with the Social Worker and Clinical Psychologists and refer cases when needed; as such, the job holder should have a proper documentation mechanism regarding the referrals and provide the needed updates in a well-organized manner;
  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings and submit reports on time

 

Work Coordination: Internal direct reporting, dotted line work coordination and external coordination

The Job holder reports directly to the Senior Public Health Officer. Under the guidance of the Health Program Coordinator, the job holder will have a dotted-line work coordination with RI’s program staff and the consortium field staff in order to ensure that tasks are being implemented in alignment with the needed work plans and deliverables.

 

Span of control and decision making

The Job holder should take decisions related to the accountabilities and tasks outlined above while coordinating directly with the Health Coordinator. Any decision beyond her/his realm or responsibility should be discussed with the Health Coordinator.

 

Working Conditions / Operating Environment

The job holder will be part of the team members who will be located at North’s office with daily field visits. The job holder will have frequent travel to Beirut’s office based on the Health Coordinator’s request.
