Data Protection Officer

  • Description: 

  • Creating practical guidelines and tools for the WCH country offices for sustainable data management based on applicable global personal data protection policy frameworks and legislation.
  • Serving as the point of contact between the War Child country offices;
  • Informing the country offices of their obligations under WCH policy and the practical guidelines;
  • Guiding country offices remotely on the implementation of the practical guidelines and tools.
  • Reports to the Personal Data Protection Coordinator in the Amsterdam office and works closely with the IT Manager in the Amsterdam office.

    Knowledge and Experience

  • Over 5 years of experience in working with EU and global privacy laws, including drafting of privacy policies, technology provisions, and working on compliance
  • Affinity with and knowledge of global personal data protection in the context of the international non-profit sector (knowledge of and experience working with the GDPR is a pre).
  • Experience working with IT programming or infrastructure, including certification in information security standards
  • Experience in remote legal and technical training and in awareness-raising
  • Experience in dealing successfully with different business cultures and industries
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously coordinate with multiple parties while maintaining independence
  • Demonstrated communication skills to address different audiences, from the board of directors to data subjects, from managers to IT staff and lawyers
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to gain the required knowledge in dynamic environments and remain up-to-date on cutting-edge developments
  • Demonstrated record of engaging with emerging laws and technologies
  • Speaks English, Arabic, and French (Spanish is a pre).
