Project Manager - Partners for Justice, Lebanon

Position Summary 

The Project Manager will manage a 27-month project that aims to reduce Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG), by empowering men and boys to work with women to become allies and champions of gender equality and prevention of VAWG; and promoting a shift in society’s attitudes in target areas around the permissibility of, and assumptions related to VAWG. The Project Manager will engage with Search’s partner organisation to raise the awareness of youth-led organizations on issues and assumptions related to the social constructions of masculinities and VAWG and increase their capacity to reflect on masculine identities and gender equality in their communities and their ability along with media stakeholders in addressing negative social dynamics that justify VAWG and/or perpetuate victim blaming.

The Project Manager will oversee day-to-day operations and implement the project’s activities, ensuring that the program is on time, within budget, and delivers high-quality results.

The Project Manager will supervise a Project Assistant and work under the supervision and guidance of the Program Director. He/She will work closely with the Gender Expert and in collaboration with the Search Beirut office, the MENA team, as well as trainers and technical experts working on the project to ensure the deliverables are of high quality, and delivered in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of project activities in a timely manner ensuring good quality action and credible outcomes;
  • Provide guidance related to the use of media and drama and engagement of youth-led organizations in order to reduce VAWG and reduce victim blaming;
  • Ensure the project is monitored effectively, that data is collected, risks are highlighted and that lessons are learned;
  • Responsible for the management and reporting on project activities, ensuring timely grant reporting and compliance with contract and donor guidelines;
  • Implement the financial and administrative systems necessary for the execution of the project and ensure the project is managed and delivered in accordance to Search’s financial policies and procedures;
  • Develop and maintain project records such as databases, reports and records of decisions;
  • Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with the partner, civil society organizations, international organizations, UN agencies, media outlets, ministries, local authorities and local communities;
  • Oversee communications activities for the project;

 As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’ degree in Communication, Interdisciplinary Gender Studies, Social Sciences or other relevant subject (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of related experience in project management.
  • Experience working with media and drama stakeholders is a major asset.
  • Experience working with youth-led organization is a major asset.
  • Experience working on GBV prevention and response is an advantage.
  • Experience working on Engaging Men and Boys for Gender equality is an advantage.
  • Dynamic leader with creative problem-solving skills, particularly in challenging situations;
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel;
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail;
