Building a better Tomorrow

The partner will be responsible for the sustainability of the existing centers costs (rental and running), and IRC will provide the needed capacity strengthening and technical support needed to ensure a proper and smooth activities handover.

Under this Invitation, IRC encourages the following project approaches:

  • Beneficiary/ community participation in project design, implementation and monitoring;
  • Project design based on appropriate assessments, evidence and data;
  • Appropriate use of monitoring to determine whether the project is successful, and adjustments to the project based on the findings of the monitoring;
  • Promotion of the Protection Principles- in Specific Child Protection guiding principles- in project design, monitoring and implementation;
  • Project design that reflects the different needs within the target population according to gender, ethnicity, age and other characteristics;
  • Appropriate coordination and collaboration with other relevant agencies; and
  • Highlight clear reporting pathways on any breach for child safeguarding polic.y

 

  1. Project Locations:

Under this Request for Applications (RFA), IRC will support projects implemented in:

  • Tripoli: Tall, Jabal Baddawi, Mina and any other relevant locality

Potential partner organizations may submit only one application. Needs assessments should be specific to the applicant’s proposed areas of implementation.

 

  1. Project start and end dates:

IRC anticipates that any sub-grant issued under this invitation may have a start date of January 01, 2020. Organizations may apply up to a maximum end date of December 2020.

This means that any sub-grant agreement will be up to a maximum 12 months in duration.

 

  1. Project Amount:

IRC anticipates providing sub-grants for amounts between 100,000 and 150,000   USD per project duration under this RFA. However, IRC may choose to make less or more awards, and may choose to make awards that are lower than or higher than this range. Noting that the evaluation criteria will take into consideration the best use of resources. The budget should include rent of the centers, running cost, staff and activities cost. All budgets exceeding this threshold will not be considered.

  1. Eligible Applicants:

IRC will accept applications from any community-based organization, local non-governmental organization or foundation with an existing operational presence in Lebanon delivering humanitarian assistance. An organization needs to be a local and legally registered in Lebanon to be eligible to apply.

The following organizations/groups are not eligible to participate in this call:

  • Private businesses, for-profit entities or non-state actors;
  • Organizations banned from receiving resources from major institutional donors;
  • Political parties or groups whose affiliation with political parties compromises the impartiality of assistance.
  • International NGOs

Specific eligibility criteria:

  • Relevant experience in implementing and monitoring community based and specialized learning and psychosocial support activities for children and adolescents;
  • Experience with safe, child friendly, play based learning (including having materials on hand to share);
  • Proven experience in working with working children and working adolescents with challenging behaviors ( preferably street connected children);
  • Experience in working with the national system including work with local municipalities;
  • Geographical experience in working with communities and children in Tripoli with extensive knowledge of context ;
  • Ability to mobilize local communities and organize events in areas of implementation;
  • Technical and financial reporting capacity ;
  • Team capacity with relevant experience and qualifications in child protection and in specific how to deal with challenging behaviors and identify and refer child protection cases;
  • Preferred: Previous cooperation with international UN organizations and / or international NGOs
