Local Expertise for Business Model Support for Hubs and Festivals/ CCI-GIZ

The GIZ global project Culture and Creative Industries (CCI), active in 6 countries (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa), is looking into innovative support models for different actors (individuals such as start-ups, as well as support originations such as hubs) in this field.

Culture and Creative Industries are diverse in size and nature. They include among others Film Business, Music, Books, Design, Radio, Architecture, Press, Marketing, Art, Fashion and Animation. The common nature of these industries lies in the creative process of developing relevant industry products and services. These products and services are often “charged” with psychological, social, cultural and economic content and as such have a high relevance for today’s knowledge society.

As part of this project the role of hubs and festivals in the focus countries should be contextualized with selective CCIs that are of the highest relevance for the geographical scope of the project.

The objective of the assignment is to build capacity in the focus countries when it comes to developing Festivals and Hubs as key accelerators for the wider development of CCI industries. GIZ will therefore be hiring an international consultant  working in five focus countries (Jordan, Lebanon, South Africa, Kenya and Senegal) when it comes to building and sustaining Festivals and Hubs to the benefit of the wider scope of creative industries. Those two instruments are pivotal accelerators for the CCI development maximizing local knowledge so that client oriented products and services can be designed and rolled out.

Tasks to be performed by the contractor

The contractor is responsible for providing the following services:

Activity 1: Studies and needs assessment for hubs and festivals

Activity 2: Case Studies on Hubs and Festivals

Activity 3: Database

Activity 4: Training Curriculum and Training facilitation in Lebanon
