Researcher

The research team is primarily tasked to ensure high quality, agile and reliable research material to the use of the action’s stakeholders through various tools, including analysis on conflict and community dynamics and successful governance models.

  Demonstrated skills in defining research problems and design ad hoc questions.

• Strong experience in data collection for applied research in human sciences.
• Proven-track ability in analyzing data (qualitative and quantitave, primary and secondary) and contextualizing them in a wider geopolitical, historical, socio-economic and cultural framework.
• Demonstrated skills in produce written and oral outputs to different audiences and in various registers, and tailoring communication according to the required context.
• Strong mediation and negotiation capacities in regularly interacting with the COSV research team, as well as with other research figures of consortium’s other organizations.
• Readiness to widen the scope of development-driven research on nowadays Middle East throughout a continuous learning process guided and supported by COSV senior colleagues.
• Experience in developing targeted surveys in line with the research objectives.
• Flexibility to adapt the research agenda and research methodologies to the various local contexts and contingencies imposed by the program and the current events on the ground.
• Deep knowledge of the Middle Eastern socio-political and civil society framework and its regional and international implications.
• Proven-track ability in analyzing different Middle Eastern local contexts in relation to the wider geopolitical and socio-economic framework. 
• Good knowledge of the various Middle Eastern sub-national and national governance issues.

Additional requirements and skills

• Master university degree preferably in Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
• Full proficiency in Arabic and English is a must.
• Work experience of result-based approaches and counterfactual analysis will be considered as a relevant asset.
• At least 3 years of work experience in a similar position.
• Strategic capacity to analyze complex environments, assessing risks and needs from a variety of sources.
• Good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
