Chemonics seeks a business development officer for the Lebanon Agriculture and Rural Empowerment (ARE) activity. This five-year, $50 to 60 million project aims to develop rural economies in Lebanon through support to the agro-food sector and other industries to unlock local and export sales potential while also creating jobs and increasing farmers’ and workers’ incomes. ARE will work with agribusinesses and rural value chain stakeholders to improve product quality and drive growth at the farm, processing, packaging, and sales levels.
The business development officer will provide overall management to the private sector engagement aspect of the activity. The business development officer will work in close coordination with the deputy chief of party/chief technical officer to maintain complementarity of technical and business development aspects of ARE’s interventions. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
Lead engagement with target private sector enterprises
Oversee the technical management of grants, including the development of capacity development plans for agribusinesses
Identify and link business opportunities with emerging and established agricultural activities
Manage business development team, ensuring high-quality technical delivery
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in management, business, or other fields related to ARE’s technical activities
A minimum of seven years of recent relevant experience (within the last 12 years) related to private businesses, including engagement in trade, exports business transactions, and business consultancies, with demonstrated results
Strong interpersonal, managerial, and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Fluency in English and Arabic required
