Disaster & Crisis prevention, response and recovery ( Part-time volunteer)

  1. Objectives.
     
  • Contribute, support and learn from the DCPRR regional work in the MENA region.
  • Get acquainted with technical DCPRR portfolios supported and/or implemented in the MENA region.

 

  1. Specific tasks

                  The Volunteer will carry out the following specific tasks:

  • Support DCPRR unit in the logistic and technical planning, preparations, implementation and reporting of workshops and event and delivery.
  • Working with the DCPRR unit members on the unit related reporting tasks including minutes taking during meetings/teleconferences and the regular DCPRR newsletter.
  • Liaise with other units and teams in the regional office on specific tasks ensuring effective working relationships with other personnel, including all other RC/RC Movement staff as necessary.
  • Revise together with the IM officer the regional training database and tracker.
  • Working with the Senior Response officer on the maintenance of the “learning from emergencies” initiative.
  • Support the DCPRR Unit in preparing specific thematic research/discussion papers.
  • Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager
  1. Length of the assignment
     

The total duration of the assignment will be four months, starting in March 2020. The assignment is part-time (3 days per week).
 

  1. Expected outcomes:
     
  • Revised “learning from emergencies” documentation.
  • DCPRR newsletter template in Arabic and English.
  • DCPRR Weekly update/highlights.
     

    Experience:

  • Basic experience in writing papers and development of data collection (Required)
  • Experience as a facilitator or trainer (Preferred)
  • Work experience with other international organisations, large NGOs and/or governmental development agency (Preferred)
     

    Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of the humanitarian context (Required)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, diverse cultural context (Required)
  • Strong report-writing skills (Required)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) (Required)

                   Languages

  • Fluently spoken and written Arabic & English (Required)
  • Good command of another IFRC official language (French) (Preferred)
