The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is a German political foundation affiliated with the German party “Die Linke” (The Left Party). RLS is a provider of civic education and a centre for progressive social research. RLS Beirut Office opened its doors in May 2017 and is working in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi-Arabia and Iran.

We announce the following vacancy:

Translator of our website from English to Arabic and vice versa (Consultancy basis, part time)

Time frame: 3 months (extendable)

Starting Date: 01/03/2020

Responsibilities of the translator:

We are looking for a translator to interpret the English texts on our website to Arabic language and vice versa (if needed) and to edit the existing Arabic and English texts. The translator has to make sure to maintain the original meaning, format and tone of the texts.

Tasks of the translator:

• Convert texts on the RLS website from English to Arabic on a regular basis and vice versa (if needed)
• Checks independently for updates on the website and converts the new parts
• Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
• Follow up with RLS team and the RLS website team to ensure translation meets their needs
• Follow up with the RLS website team to ensure timely and accurate publication of the translated texts

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a translator, interpreter or similar role
• Fluency in English and Arabic
• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
• Good knowledge of content editing tools
• Conceptual and social skills, willingness to work independently, good teamwork
• Sharing the understandings and values of RLS
