Education & Qualifications
University degree (Bachelor’s and/or MSc) in integrated development, sociology and/or social/managerial studies or similar
Professional experience
At least 7 years professional experience in a comparable position
Working experience with youth in the field of social participation community engagement
Experience in participatory processes
Experience in implementation and preparation of trainings, workshops and similar events
Experience in both field and desk works
Ability to deal with different stakeholders and local communities
Ability to cope with dynamic situation of cooperation system in development field
Ability to deal with unexpected challenges
Good communication skills, especially with youth
Knowledgeable about stakeholder participation and dialogue
Good communication skills, intercultural competence
High level of technical proficiency, negotiation and coordination skills
Language skills: fluent spoken and written skills in English and Arabic – report writing level
Other knowledge, additional competences
Very good working knowledge of IT technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet)
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic

B. Responsibilities The position holder is responsible for:
Implementing independently the planned project activities and any activity relating to improved performance and quality
Supporting the assessment of organizational needs and the design, in close coordination with the team leader
Developing and implementation of initiatives related to the project’s objectives and strategy in close coordination with the team leader
Technical organization and implementation of workshops, meetings related to component’s field of work
coordinating actively with all the key stakeholders concerning the area of activity
carrying out the information and knowledge management for the related activities
Representing the interests and always acts on behalf of GIZ
C. Tasks
In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
1. Implementation of project activities
Advising and contributing to building up the Youth Project, framework and standards of operation
Providing support for the exchange between both branches of the project in Lebanon and Jordan
Providing technical assistance to the partner institutions when and where needed
Providing support to partners institutions in the development of the proposals
Coordinating with the implementing partners for the successful implementation of projects activities
Contributing and monitoring to the project's indicators for social participation, community engagement, gender and other social measures
Supporting in the coordination with the project leader on status and details of projects implementation and field work and supporting with data to assess impacts of the project
Implementing and coordinating activities in fields related to participatory designs of public spaces with local communities and the provision of social services
Conducting and facilitating exchange formats, public workshops and meetings
Writing TORs for related needed consultancy fields
Supporting public relations activities, including the development of PR material.
Translating key documents
2. Networking and Cooperation
communicates and liaises regularly with all relevant stakeholders
cooperates actively with all GIZ and non-GIZ team members
3. Knowledge Management
Supports project monitoring and updates information on project progress, documents and reports regularly on the status of results
4. Other duties/additional tasks
Representing the interests and always acts on behalf of GIZ
Implementing other relevant tasks upon the request of direct superior
About the Project:
The new project “Social Participation and Community Engagement by Youth” addresses that young people in the MENA region are only involved to a small extent in shaping their society; they lack opportunities to shape their society peacefully. The project advises and supports partners, particularly from the civil society sector, at the micro and meso level in selected regions of Jordan and Lebanon on the topic of youth participation and sustainable peaceful conflict resolution.
