Community Health Supervisor - Bekaa

Background:

The Community Health Program (CHP) at IMC aims at helping vulnerable refugee communities through the community itself. The program is centered on refugee volunteers who are identified at field level as being leaders and potentially influencers in their societies as community health workers.

Job Purpose:

The community health supervisor is the frontline staff involving in supervising a team of community volunteers and leading them to implement community health activities in the different areas.

Main Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain a daily schedule of activities for community health workers
Conduct daily visits to informal settlements and/or community shelters/centers where the community health program is implemented
Participate in community health activities including, but not restricted to, health awareness group sessions, home visits and distributions
Coach and support community health workers in utilizing data collection and monitoring tools
Supervise performance of community health workers using standard checklists and reporting forms and identify learning/training needs
Act as a focal point between community health workers and the closest supported primary health care facility (point of referral)
Collect and manage referrals from community health workers to health facilities and monitor outcomes

Provide detailed reports to Community Health Officer on a weekly basis
Develop relationships with local actors and community leaders as well as with other departments within IMC
Assist in developing materials and visual aids for the program

Desirable Experience:

Previous work with a non-governmental organization or community-health programming
Providing health awareness and health promotion activities
Supervising field teams
Working knowledge in the provision of Maternaland Child Health care
Participating in community needs assessments and survevs

Essential Competency: Excellent command of Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable Competency:

Good writing and reporting skills

Good leadership skills

Good communication skills

Experience in working closely with community members throughout a program cycle

Experience in or understanding of program accountability principles

Knowledge of, respect and empathy for the communities we are working with

Commitment to championing community and partner points of view

Strong understanding of the project cycle and of M&E systems

Good interpersonal and influencing skills

Non-discriminatory and readiness to involve men, women, girls and boys from diverse backgrounds, particularly the most marginalized segments of the community

Very good listening and facilitation skills – capable of managing and facilitating group discussions with program participants, local officials, partners and all levels of staff

Ability to mobilize people – to develop and maintain relationships with staff and communities to ensure their participation in International Medical Corps ways of working
