I. INTRODUCTION

NGO's Background Information

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). LRI's mission is to restore Lebanon's native forests and to instill commitment to reforestation and wildfire prevention and response, through capacity building of local communities and organizations.

One of LRI's projects' preperations is to implement a labour-intensive forestry activities project with UNDP (LIFI). The project will be implemented in Baalbeck-Hermel, West Beqaa and Jbeil-Kesrwan districts and will aim at reducing fire risk, managing forest areas for pest reduction, improving ecotourism through the rehabilitation of existing trails, improving rangeland and bee pasture areas, and developing and sustaining income generating activities related to ecotourism, charcoal production, beekeeping and other forestry-related business activities for rural communities. 

 II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

LRI seeks a full-time Project Coordinator for the UNDP - LIFI Project for a period of 10 months, renewable based on available funding and performance. The Project Coordinator is expected to coordinate project activities with three Field Officers and one Administrative Assistant and report back to a Team Leader/Project Manager.

The Project Coordinator is expected to perform the following duties:

• Develop a detailed implementation plan for the project;
• Prepare a specific workplan for each of 3 clusters located in 3 different location  (North Bekaa, Keserwan/ Jbeil, West Bekaa);
• Lead on the stakeholders identification and asses their level of influence and engagement;
• Document , track and follow up on the project progress and ensure submission of deliverables on time;
• Assist in analyzing different value chains related to forest products and assist in developing methodologies for economic opportunities' assessment;
• Coordinate with the communication team on events, branding, and visibility materials;
• Develop forestry technical reports for training purposes or administrative paperwork’s;
• Coordinate capacity building activities addressed to LRI local partners;
• Assist the Team Leader in tracking the project weekly and  ensure proper communication of tasks to the cluster officers;
• Assist the Procurement Department in the technical specifications of purchase materials;
• Organize informative sessions for participants (foremen and workers) and educate team member on  the contents; and
• Work with the MEL Officer to draft progress reports and to  document all the project files and records.

III. REQUIREMENTS 

• More than 2 years of experience in project coordination /field work;
• Basic knowledge in mapping, GIS and remote sensing experience is a plus;
• Experience working with Lebanese rural communities is a plus;
• Experience in environmental issues;
• Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills;
• Excellent reporting and presentation skills;
• Willingness to travel outside Beirut; and
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
