I. INTRODUCTION
NGO's Background Information
The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (LRI) is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities under no. 1186 on 18 June 2014. LRI started as a project launched in 2010 by the United States Forest Service (USFS) Office of International Programs (IP) through the support and funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). LRI's mission is to restore Lebanon's native forests and to instill commitment to reforestation and wildfire prevention and response, through capacity building of local communities and organizations.
One of LRI's projects' preperations is to implement a labour-intensive forestry activities project with UNDP (LIFI). The project will be implemented in Baalbeck-Hermel, West Beqaa and Jbeil-Kesrwan districts and will aim at reducing fire risk, managing forest areas for pest reduction, improving ecotourism through the rehabilitation of existing trails, improving rangeland and bee pasture areas, and developing and sustaining income generating activities related to ecotourism, charcoal production, beekeeping and other forestry-related business activities for rural communities
II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
LRI is seeking three full-time Cluster Field Officers for the UNDP - LIFI Project for a period of 10 months, renewable based on available funding and performance. The Cluster Field Officers shall be responsible for particular tasks related to the coordination with experts, monitoring activities, collecting information, communication with municipalities involved in the project, implementation and maintenance of the work-plan, in addition to being responsible for worker's payrolls and logistics for events & training.
The Cluster Field Officer is expected to perform the following duties:
- Coordinate with Forest and Land Management experts at LRI to ensure a proper implementation of the field work;
- Collect field technical information and conduct needed surveys;
- Follow up with local partners teams on all aspects of the project implementation;
- Assist is stakeholders identification process and assess level of influence and involvement;
- Prepare MOUs, progress report and other paperworks;
- Communicate with the municipalities and local authorities or other public administrative organization;
- Follow up on the workplan implementation and report progress;
- Maintain workers database including updated workers monitoring sheet and document workers record;
- Issue workers payrolls and follow up on payment procedures; and
- Assist in the logistics of events, meeting or trainings.
III. REQUIREMENTS
- More than 2 years of experience in field work;
- Experience working with Lebanese rural communities is a plus;
- Experience in environmental issues;
- Strong analytical, communication and inter-personal skills;
- Excellent reporting and presentation skills;
- Willingness to travel outside Beirut; and
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
