JOB TITLE: Area Coordinator

ABAAD PURPOSE:

ABAAD aims at achieving gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region. ABAAD has a proven record in working in addressing GBV in emergency settings.


JOB PURPOSE:

The Area Coordinator responsible for overall management and strategic direction of ABAAD’s work in his area under the direct supervision of the Senior Implementation Coordinator. The Area Coordinator will represent ABAAD in the area of operation. The post-holder has to ensure high quality implementation of all projects and supporting new developments. S/he will need to clearly understand and ensure fair, accountable and transparent management of program, finance and human resources, and promote a learning environment for staff and the organization. The Area Coordinator will also be responsible for full compliance with ABAAD’s standard procedures for safety, security and general operations.


REPORTING LINES:

Post holder reports to:  Senior Implementation Coordinator

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program Management:
    • Contribute and support the development of the field implementation plan in collaboration and coordination with Project Coordinators
    • Manage the field staff and oversee the implementation of projects activities and ensure that stated goals and objectives are met in assigned area
    • Ensure integrated implementation with other sectors and partners.

• Ensure contracts and payments are in place for contracted facilities.

• Work with field and management staff to ensure that all activities are in place as per contract and regularly reported.
• Conduct need assessments, participatory assessments and surveys when needed
• Work closely with the logistics team to identify procurement and supply issues, support center coordinators in their daily tasks.

• Conduct regular visits to the centers
• Identify training needs for field staff
• Conduct regular staff meetings

 

  • Financial Management

• Work with the Senior Implementation Coordinator to develop expenditure and procurement plans to guide implementation of approved grants in the assigned area
• Review budget vs. actual expenditure for the field program on a monthly basis.

• Provide recommendations and interventions to correct any identified deviations (related to compliance, over and under expenditure) that impact budget adherence.
• Monitor monthly payment provision and petty cash prepared by the Center Coordinators.
 

- Staff Management:
• Manage and supervise all staff on the site

• Ensure efficient and effective work schedule is in place for the field staff according to the agreed work plan
• Monitor the team’s performance according to their assigned tasks and provide regular feedback to technical and management teams
• Perform evaluation of field staff in assigned area


- Coordination and Representation:


• Provide updates to the Senior Implementation Coordinator on a regular basis

• Represent ABAAD in relevant meetings and with local government representatives, international and local non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders
• Conduct coordination meeting and share information with community leaders and field workers
• Represent ABAAD during donors’ visits

- Reporting:


• Ensure regular collection of the data and documentation as per grant and reporting requirements.
• Provide accurate regular reports of activities in the field.  
• Review reports provided by the center coordinators
• Contribute to ABAAD’s MEAL activities

•Any other requirements from management

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

  • Minimum of five years of experience (NGO is a must)
  • University degree in management, social science or related discipline, including gender and development;
  • Proven track record of working in a similar capacity with the nation and/or international NGOs in the region;
  • Knowledge of gender and gender equality;
  • Experience in field coordination, monitoring and follow up;
  • High conflict management skills
  • Highly skilled in report writing in both languages (Arabic and English – French is a plus);
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic including demonstrable ability to work with others and as part of a team;
  • Knowledge and skills in computer usage including word, excel, power point, and social media;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Effective member of team and role model; demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards.
  • Takes responsibility for own work and delegated project/processes (including some leadership);
  • Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.
