Students Service Coordinator for the Partnership for Digital Learning and Increased Access (PADILEIA)

The Students Service Coordinator provides daily logistical and student support for the PADILEIA project in Bar Elias, Bekaa, ensuring that the study hubs provide a functional and supportive environment for optimal student learning in a blended college-readiness program that prepares Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese youth for entry into higher education. This project is funded by UK aid from the British people through SPHEIR in partnership with the Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service at the American University of Beirut, King's College London (UK), Kiron Open Higher Education (Kiron), Al Al Bayt University (Jordan), FutureLearn (UK) and Kayany Foundation (Lebanon).

DUTIES PERFORMED:

The Students Service Coordinator for the PADILEIA Project will be based in Bar Elias, Bekaa and is responsible for the following:

  1. Supervision and daily maintenance of two study hubs in Bar Elias, Bekaa, ensuring security and functioning of computers (relying on technical IT support as needed).
  2. Ensures all program materials and supply needs are provided in a timely manner.
  3. Coordinates with local instructors and AUB faculty supervisors (curriculum, class schedules, absences, etc.); Students (class schedules, absences, etc.); local partner NGO; IT and internet service providers.
  4. Follows up with local instructors on students’ daily attendance and document according to requirements.
  5. Provides logistical, administrative and operational support as requested.
  6. Supports students and instructors in the blended/online component of the curriculum.
  7. Conduct research for progress reports on field activities, including quarterly evaluation and performance monitoring.
  8. Monitors and reports monthly on field expenses in coordination with local NGO and project manager.
  9. Conduct ongoing outreach for potential applicants and engage with key stakeholders, institutions of higher education, refugee-serving NGOs and initiatives (including scholarship providers), humanitarian agencies, and representatives of the ministries of education and social affairs.
  10. Develops best practices and tools for student services and psychosocial support in coordination with the management team and project partners.
  11. Participates in meetings related to the project.
  12. Performs other activities as assigned.

INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATION:

  1. Reports to the PADILEIA Project Manager and CCECS Director 
  2. Works according to established policies and professional standards. Completed work is subject to subsequent review.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Language: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, organization, and communications skills
  2. Master’s Degree from a recognized university in in relevant field (computer science/IT-related fields, education, social sciences etc.)
  3. More than 1 years of experience in a similar role preferably within a learning or academic organization, NGO/humanitarian organization.
  4. Excellent computer skills/Tech Savvy – able to provide basic IT support. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Applications required. Previous experience with online learning is necessary
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and discretion.
  6. Native Arabic speaker with strong communication and written skills in English.
  7. Good time management, multitasking skills to be able to ensure that tasks get completed on time.
  8. Ability to work in challenging environments, problem-solve and adapt as needed.
