MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Handle Project activities Implementation and management
Oversee the WASH project implementation
Develop and continually update the project related documents: Detailed Implementation Plans (DIPs), procurement plan, cash flow, etc.
Monitor and follow up on the budget expenditure and make sure it is aligned with the project budget
Successfully operationalize and ensure the timely implementation of the planned WASH operations interventions.
Draft and continually adjust the operational approaches.
Ensure that all WASH-related data (e.g. baseline assessments, activity monitoring) is well managed and provides an accurate representation of the reality on the ground.
Submit regular reports related to the project’s WASH interventions (Weekly, monthly, quarterly reports)
Handle Staff Management
Dynamically supervise a team of WASH Operations Assistants and Officers,
Delegate appropriate task to team members and follow up on their activities.
Assess the performance of the WASH operations unit staff
Conduct regular meetings with field staff (e.g. WASH Operations Assistants, WASH operations Officers, etc.) to discuss progress of implementation and accordingly generate action plans.
Work closely with WASH Operation Officers and Assistants to plan, implement and manage WASH intervention in the targeted area.
Develop and execute a capacity-building plan for World Vision WASH operations staff.
Ensure Internal coordination
Liable for a continuous coordination with other heads of units (Engineering and Hygiene promotion units and the Data management unit) in order to ensure the proper implementation of the WASH projects and the timely support and submission of deliverables as requested by the project Manager.
Ensure daily coordination of activities with World Vision’s internal departments and sectors (e.g. Security, Fleet, M&E, Accountability, etc.).
Coordinate and take part with the GAM team and Portfolio Manager for the design of WASH proposals and concept notes
External coordination and engagement
Ensure continuous coordination with stakeholders and communities (e.g. NGOs, universities, UN agencies, government, partners, and donors).
Establish good and trustworthy relationships with different stakeholders (partners, donors, etc.)
Attend coordination meetings, sector meetings, Partners meeting, etc.
Perform other duties as required
Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally.
Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events.
Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.
Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in the following: Engineering, Public health, preferable specialized in water and environment and any other relevant field
3 to 5 years of experience in WASH project management (design, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation and monitoring)Strong English and Arabic communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to travel across the country regularly for training, assessment, regular monitoring and evaluation
A high level of diplomacy and networking skills is required.
Strong capacity building and facilitation skills
Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina
Ability to manage work life and work without supervision
Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment
Ability to maintain performance expectations in psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
Able to use a computer, with word-processing and spreadsheets, (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Understanding of internet and email
Experience in managing staff, partners and facilitating capacity building.
2 years’ experience in NGOs in the work of implementing or managing programs in any field related to water, sanitation, health or shelter: involving assessments, design, planning, implementation, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation and monitoring with experience in working in the informal tented settlement.
