Solidarités International is an International NGO working with vulnerable populations, mainly victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters. Specialized for nearly 40 years in the coverage of vital needs, S.I. takes charge of emergency and reconstruction programs.
With respect for cultures and close to the people, Solidarités International implements its programs by combining its skills with those of its employees and local managers.
Solidarités International's teams, made up of around 270 expatriates and nearly 2200 local employees, are today present in 18 countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Caribbean where they are particularly committed to fighting diseases related to unsafe water but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods.
ABOUT THE JOB
The construction officer will be required to:
Rehabilitation and construction Activities:
- Identification of target group, plan adequate activities and update tools related to the needs
- Take part in the initial technical assessment at household level to identify the needs for minor and medium repairs in the apartment, specify the work to be performed through the establishment of BoQ, and contribute to prioritize the minimum package and the instalments requirements
- Under the responsibility of the line manager (AM), take part in logistical and administrative organization, planning, and preparation of activities
- Supervise the progression of the work on a regular basis and provide advice upon request
- Report information on work progression and quality to validate each instalment and final work completion
- Take part in post-intervention monitoring upon request
- Establish safety and security measures for each activity and ensure that these rules are respected by the workforce under his/ her supervision and by the population.
Reporting / Communication / representation
- Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarities office, accessible to his/her WASH & Shelter Activity Manager.
- Take part in the drafting of project progress reports under the supervision of the WASH & Shelter Activity Manager.
- Take part in seminars and workshops related to the carrying-out of activities and to project objectives when requested by the WASH & Shelter Activity Manager or WASH Program Manager.
- Report to the WASH & Shelter Activity Manager the progress of the activities he/she is in charge of according to Solidarities International reporting template.
- Report the construction progress to the management and update the relevant formats and databases for the construction activities;
- Report back all information or problems linked to his/her activity, Solidarities programs or safety issues.
- Contribute to input final and intermediary report
- Give information to the beneficiaries about SI mandate, activities, results and about external actors and represent SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL when necessary
- Facilitate, build up and maintain good relationships with the beneficiaries.
- Communicate with other SI activities and departments for the daily activities
The construction Officer may be asked to drive SI cars and respecting the driving policies set by the logistic
department and attached to this document.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Degree in Civil engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience in Construction works
- Previous experience in humanitarian field is preferable
- Fluent spoken and written Arabic
- Strong technical skills
- Basic reporting skills
- Strong social and communication skills
- Calm, diplomatic, understanding problem solver and patient
- Basic knowledge of office software’s
- Knowledge of the implementation zone (Beirut area)
- Valid driving license
POSITION OF THE POST IN THE ORGANISATIONAL CHART (hierarchical and functional)
Under the hierarchical authority of: Shelter Activity Manager
SI WILL OFFER YOU
A salaried post: 1,160 USD – Basic salary
Vacation: 1.5 Paid Leaves/month
Social and medical cover.
