Psychologist

Since 2013, KAFA has partnered with UNICEF in a project entitled “Protecting children and adolescents from Gender-Based Violence” aiming at enhancing the protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from GBV (early marriage and sexual abuse) through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness on how to protect themselves from GBV.

In 2020, KAFA will continue its partnership with UNICEF in the same project and will include working on a community-based approach in IS and households through peer to peer education and committees in West and Central Bekaa and SDCs and local organizations in BML.

The Psychologist will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide PSS activities to children, adolescents, and caregivers based on specialized developed tools including the Citadel of Protection toolkit and the FPSS curriculum;

  • Maintain and update database related to conducted activities and referral pathway in each location;
  • Stick with the annual plan set with the project coordinator;
  • Provide a schedule of activities on a weekly/ monthly basis;
  • Coordinate with KAFA field officer and team leader;
  • Raise logistics and technical challenges;
  • Fill reports upon completion of each cycle of activities and upon request according to the UNICEF reporting system;
  • Identify gaps regarding practices, knowledge, and attitudes of community members and provide necessary support; 
  • Refer cases received while conducting activities to the Field Officer;
  • Maintain good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities, and other international and local stakeholders;
  • Coordinate with M&E consultant and provide them with needed information and database and documents related to monitoring activities;
  • Meet external requests in terms of events and awareness sessions sent to KAFA by schools, universities, and other organizations;
  • Attend external and internal training when required;
  • Attend coordination meetings when required.

Key Characteristics:

  1. Proven experience in providing sessions on GBV and Child Protection risks prevention;
  2. Knowledge of GBV and Child Protection concepts;
  3. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work;
  4. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills;
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  6. Strong organizational and planning skills;
  7. Teamwork skills.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:
While working on a KAFA project, it is required to sign KAFA’s Code of Conduct and KAFA’s Child Protection Policy.
