In collaboration with, and under the direct supervision of the MHPSS Delegate, the Field Officer contributes technically to the implementation of MHPSS activities in response of the Beirut blast and line with the ICRC MHPSS framework. The position will be based in Beirut with travel to field locations.
Education required:
• University degree in clinical psychology (minimum 3 years’ university study)
• Fluent command of English or French as well as the main local language.
• License to practice in his/her own country.
• Computer proficiency.
Professional Experience required:
• 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience with minimum 2 years’ experience in MHPSS programmes.
• Experience in managing teams is an asset.
• Red Cross/Red Crescent experience an asset.
• Clinical and/or psychosocial experience (depending on the programme).
• Humanitarian experience an asset.
Main responsibilities:
MHPSS activities in response to Beirut Blast (beneficiaries referred by Physical Rehabilitation Program PRP team and direct provision of psychological support)
Conduct psychological assessments of new beneficiaries, includes use of ICRC assessment tools and standardised psychometric scales.
Develop patient treatment plans according to the nature and extent of mental health needs.
Provide individual/family/group mental health care through (brief to mid) supportive psychotherapy according to the patient treatment plan.
Provide psychoeducation to patients, caregivers and/or family members.
Observe, evaluate and monitor the evolution of the patients through regular follow up sessions, modify the treatment plan accordingly.
Develops detailed MHPSS referral pathway in area of responsibilities (AoR) and creates links and partnerships with other internal and external service providers as per identified needs (EcoSec, Protection, Health (Hospital, PRP, PHC) etc.).
Maintain client files in accordance with ICRC standards.
Support to MHPSS delegate:
Assist MHPSS delegate and filed locations to conduct needs assessments and follow-up/implement recommendations as required.
Facilitates/implements information, sensitization and training MHPSS sessions for PRP staff or other entities as required
Contribute to define health strategy for the PFR, ensuring the MHPSS response is integrated in a more multidisciplinary response according to the priority area
Provides ad hoc support to other MHPSS programmes in various locations in Lebanon when required.
Accurately interprets from English to Arabic and vice versa during field trips and when necessary, and translates documents as required
Assists with any other relevant tasks assigned by the MHPSS Delegate.
Supervision:
Participates constructively in regular supervision with MHPSS Delegate.
Participates in peer supervision at monthly MHPSS team meetings to foster an atmosphere of mutual support and learning within the MHPSS team.
Participates in internal and external training as agreed with MHPSS delegate.
Administration, reporting and communication:
Ensures key programme, context and technical information is shared promptly with MHPSS delegate.
Ensures necessary administrative work is completed in a timely manner.
Ensures patients files are kept updated and stored securely in accordance with international standards.
Manages MHPSS database and contributes to timely reporting as required, including quarterly MAD database, MoPH indicators report, minutes of meetings, field trip/visits reports, technical reports.
Develops and/or contributes as required to specific reports e.g. project documents, concept notes, protocols, etc.
Actively participates in stakeholder mapping, networking and external meetings.
Actively participates in ICRC team meetings and planning in Health department, Delegation and as otherwise required.
Responsible for organizing field trips/visits following ICRC procedures.
