Summary:

ABAAD-Resource Center for Gender Equality provides holistic gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response services.  In the Beirut-Mount Lebanon (BML) area, ABAAD covers the areas of Burj Hammoud, Nahr Ibrahim, Mreijeh, Sid el Bouchriyeh, Rmeileh, and Ain Remmeneh.  ABAAD’s holistic GBV services include case management (CM) [comprising of emergency cash assistance], mental health services, and psychosocial services (PSS).  Services are accessible to Syrian and Iraqi refugees and other nationalities (ON).  Child protection (CP) services are accessible to affected community members.   

Main Duties:

The PSS-OV Supervisor to monitor, facilitate, and oversee the Outreach Volunteer (OV) and Community Groups (CGs) established in the BML area. The position is roving and would require coordination in the Women & Girl Safe Spaces (WGSS) in the community development centers (CDCs).   

PSS activities include:

• Coordinate with center coordinator and the case-managers regularly on activities and activity-schedule. 
• Oversee the implementation and facilitation of PSS activities (recreational and focused PSS sessions) at the community development centers (CDCs) in the BML area.
• Support in the organization of specific events or activities in the CDCs.
• Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of planned and implemented PSS activities.
• Provide daily and weekly updates to center coordinator and to the National Safe Spaces Program Coordinator.

• Conduct psychosocial information awareness raising sessions in the targeted communities.
• Support in the implementation of E-PSS sessions (online PSS modalities in-light of COVID-19).
• Assist in the development/review of PSS curricula or Lessons Learned documents.

Outreach Volunteer and Community Group activities include:

• To work closely with the 25 Outreach Volunteers (OVs) in the areas of Baabda, Alley, Metn, Jbeil/Keserwan, and Chouf. 
• Develop monthly OV-schedule and action-plans. 
  • OVs to carry out:
    • Awareness sessions (including e-awareness in-light of COVID-19)
    • Assessments with community stakeholders
    • Assist in distributions (if possible)
• To work with OVs on their individual capacity-building plans.
• Overseeing the outreach strategies and activities that target and identify at-risk and vulnerable community groups.
• Bi-monthly meetings with OVs at the CDCs to discuss identified/noted challenges, trends, and needs.
• To work closely with the 14 Community Groups in the CDCs.
• To work with community group members on the development of capacity-strengthening needs. 
• To work with community groups on agreed-upon community-based initiatives (CBIs). 

To meet with community groups on a bi-monthly basis to discuss updates on CBIs. 

• Share monthly reports on OV and community groups’ updates and action-plans. 

Time-Frame:

• October to December 2020 with possibility of extension depending on availability of funds.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Background in social-work/psychology/social-sciences. BA is a must – MA is preferred, but not necessary.
• 5-7 years of experience in the implementation of relevant duties and scope of work.  
• Previous experience in PSS is preferred.
• Previous experience working with vulnerable community groups is a must.
• Selected candidate must abide by all ABAAD code-of-conduct policies, including Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Accountability to Affected Persons (AAP).
