Social Worker

Mission of the position:

 

Under the SOS Lebanon 20a Emergency Relief Project, the social worker(s) appointed to work within the Emergency Response program will work closely with the project coordinator, psychologist, and the Child Friendly Space (CFS) educational and recreational teams in order to make sure the needs of families and children are properly assessed and met, providing thorough assessment, intervention, and follow- up throughout the various phases of the project

 

Key Performance Areas and responsibilities:

 

- Supports the ER Program Coordinator in assessing and modifying scope of the project according to needs of the affected children and families
- Identification of cases of children who have lost or are at risk of losing care from their parents or immediate caregivers

- Identification of children who are at risk of abuse or neglect, and the ability to intervene and refer cases using institutional, legal and ethical considerations and guidelines
- Conducting comprehensive assessment of children and families in order to develop a support system using an individualized case management approach

- Coordinating with multidisciplinary team in order to provide families with optimal psychosocial support and follow-up, and to ensure children’s needs are addressed through various services, including activities held in Child Friendly Space
- Maintaining regular contact and follow-up with children and families during program implementation phase through phone calls, home visits and activities in CFS in order to reassess needs and monitor progress of case
- Documenting all activities conducted during the case management stages in the family’s file through information- gathering methods and tools, as well as use of forms/templates, as required by program coordination team

- Networking and capacity building with other entities and NGOs in order to help provide families with a support system for additional/ ongoing support as needed, beyond the scope/ duration of ER program

Child Safeguarding (CS)

 

 

  • Responsible to raise awareness of the SOS Child Protection Policy principles and to prevent and protect children/young people from all forms of abuse, abandonment, exploitation, violence and discrimination
  • Ensures strong focus on CS prevention by organising informal and formal discussions, workshops and other capacity buildings activities for young people to make them understand  CS risks and protection mechanisms 
  • Responsible to report any CS suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the CS team at programme level and/or to the respective line manager
