Shelter Intern - Beirut

What you will do

Program Implementation:

• Conduct technical assessments of existing shelters and buildings

• Develop technical proposals and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates including material, labor and transportation requirements for all shelter and WASH related works

• Prepare technical drawings, where required

• Support all technical aspects of quality control

• Conduct regular visits to beneficiaries

• Attend and support distributions

• Provide daily/weekly reports, as requested.

Program Monitoring:

• Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities by collecting appropriate data from selected beneficiaries, using pre-made questionnaires

• Conduct site visits to supervise and/or monitor progress and quality, when needed

• Contribute to data entry, when needed

 

Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

 

Learning opportunities for the Intern

The purpose of the Internship is to:

• Provide field-learning experience in emergency response and humanitarian program activities

• Expose them to international environment working within the major emergency response

• Provide learning in working within an iNGO, to gain knowledge of humanitarian principles and activities,

• Provide knowledge of SCI policies in safeguarding, Codes of Conduct and Construction

• Provide SCI with assistance of qualified students, specialized in the professional field of the construction field

 

Minimum qualification and experience:

• Degree in the engineering or similar fields, equivalent work experience is considered

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the construction sector

• Experience in field work and community mobilization

• Computer skills (especially Excel)

• Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

• Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment 

• Available to travel in country
