Study Hubs Coordinator (for Online Learning) - PADILEIA

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Study Hubs Coordinator for Online Learning for the Partnership for Digital Learning and Increased Access (PADILEIA) supports an innovative project to provide to engage refugees and vulnerable Lebanese youth in high quality Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC). The Study Hubs Coordinator for Online Learning will provide daily logistical and student support for the project in Bar Elias, Bekaa, ensuring that the study hubs provide a functional and supportive environment for optimal student learning in a blended college-readiness program. This project is funded by UK aid from the British people through SPHEIR (Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Innovation and Reform) in partnership with the American University of Beirut, King's College London, Al Al Bayt University (Jordan), Kiron Open Higher Education (Germany), and FutureLearn (UK).

DUTIES PERFORMED:

  • Supervision and daily maintenance of one study hub in Bar Elias, Bekaa, ensuring security and functioning of computers as well as high-speed internet (relying on technical IT support as needed)
  • Ensures all program materials and supply needs are provided in a timely manner.
  • Act as a focal point for feedback provided by local facilitators and students on Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) quality, locality, and any other related matters.
  • Follows up with local facilitators on students' daily attendance and document according to requirements
  • Provides logistical, administrative, and operational support on a regular basis.
  • Supports students and instructors in the blended/online component of the curriculum.
  • Conducts research for progress reports on-field activities, including the quarterly evaluation and performance monitoring
  • Monitors and reports monthly on-field expenses in coordination with local NGO and project manager
  • Conducts ongoing outreach for potential applicants and engage with key stakeholders, institutions of higher education, refugee-serving NGOs and initiatives (including scholarship providers), humanitarian agencies, and representatives of the ministries of education and social affairs
  • Develops best practices and tools for student services and psychosocial support in coordination with the management team
  • Participates in meetings related to the project when needed.
  • Performs other activities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master Degree from a recognized university in a relevant field (education, computer science/IT-related fields, etc.) 
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • ​Ability to manage multiple priorities and produce high quality deliverables with attention to detail while maintaining schedule commitments
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as an effective team member
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources
  • Skillful in student service
  • Experienced in e-learning and massive open online courses
  • Very strong problem solving skills to help overcome fairly complex problems routinely faced and to help keep solutions simple
  • Excellent Arabic and English communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
  • Ability to provide IT support and proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Applications etc.). Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Previous experience working with refugees is required.
