Pediatric cardiologist

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

In accordance with humedica’s policy and procedures, the incumbent:

  • Undertakes regular visits to health centres supported by humedica according to a rotating schedule in order to examine, treat and follow up on patients referred to him/her by medical officers;
  • Follows up to ensure that equipment and supplies are maintained and techniques are performed in accordance with standard Agency procedures;
  • Maintains records of paediatric patients with cardiovascular diseases at each health centre and provides statistical data and relevant information on such patients to the Public Health Officer and the management of humedica.  
  • Plans and directs the in-service training of medical officers on the prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases; gives trainings for health centre and field staff in order to optimize the quality of care
  • Is familiar with referral pathways to assure that patients receive the required treatment. Maintains an effective system of referral to, and feed-back from, contracted and government hospitals treating refugee patients;
  • Follows up with patients and make sure they are able to follow the treatment
  • Applies excellent hygienic practices (disinfection, sterilization, wearing PPEs)
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

  1. Academic and Professional
  • A university degree in medicine from a university or medical school
  • A post-graduate degree or diploma in paediatric heart diseases;
  • A valid governmental licence to practice medicine in the country of duty station.
  1. Experience
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in management of cardiovascular diseases in children after obtaining the degree/diploma in this discipline.
  1. Language
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.
  1. Other Qualifications
  • Leadership ability and previous training and teaching experience.
  • Possession of a driving license valid in the country of duty station.
  • High ethical standards
  • Strong skills in communication, mediation and cooperation
  • Preferable working experience with refugees and vulnerable communities
  • Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Flexibility, reliability and able to work under stress

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The Paediatric Cardiologist will work under the supervision of humedica at the supported centres in central Bekaa. Visits to the health centres will be based on the need with a maximum of 4 visits per month. The incumbent will be reimbursed by humedica per consultation. The position will be a freelancer position.
