Researcher

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the history consultant to set the general guidelines of the research
• Prepare the research-design and methodology of study, with the support of the history consultant
• Conduct an extensive research on the literature pertaining to history of the civil war.
• Carry out the mapping of the initiatives, publications and personnel related to the history of the civil war.
• Examine cases from other conflict societies and decide on the best approach for the case of Lebanon.
• Identify and consult with experts (from civil society, intergovernmental organizations, academia, government and other relevant bodies) to develop the content and narrative of the article/s.
• Review findings to identify key people that should be involved at the various stages of this project.
• Prepare an overview of existing scholarly work on the civil war period and various initiatives that have contributed to the production of knowledge on the civil war. 
• Present findings on the literature and initiatives of the war

Deliverables:

1. The mapping that will include three main aspects:

• The first shows main sources, books, articles, documentaries that tackled various aspects of the civil war history.
• The second suggests names of scholars and professionals who have worked on the history of the civil war and could contribute the most to the project.
• The third lists key initiatives pertaining to the collection, research, and archiving of civil war

Skills and Competencies

• Extensive work on the history of Lebanon, particularly the history of the civil war
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and research softwares, and strong technical literacy.
• At least 3 years related experience.
• Excellent research writing and editing skills
• Ability to work efficiently and promptly with team members and stakeholders
• Strong analytical and qualitative skills
• Dynamic attitude, multitasking skills and team player skills.
• Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
• Attention to details and high professionalism
