EPI Support Officer - Beirut

Supervision, monitoring and controlling the EPI program within the vaccination of the district to ensure that the vaccines are delivered according to the MoPH norms and regulations.

  • Safety and quality immunization
  • In respect to the National Health Strategy, monitor the quality of vaccine delivery and ensure the abidance to norms of security and, including the use of vaccination waiver checklist, infection control requirements, and the knowledge of the vaccinators of the side effects management and Drop Out protocols.
  • Monitor the proper functioning and effectiveness of the cold chain system within each vaccination point.
  • Conduct periodic filed visits to all dispensaries to audit the cold chain and techniques of vaccine administration as per EPI protocols.
  • Participating in and conducting EPI trainings for routine and supplementary immunization activities.
  • Equitable access to immunization
  • Ensure the gratuity of vaccination delivery in the vaccination points receiving subsidized vaccines as per the MoPH decree 47 May 2014.
  • Identify the obstacles hindering the implementation of the gratuity of the vaccination services, and participate in finding solutions, or Implementing corrective actions.
  • Implement actions to reduce obstacles to access immunization services in the vaccination points receiving subsidized services.
  • Prioritize actions and resources to serve better marginalized and especially vulnerable communities.
  • Evidence based Management
  • Coordinate the supply chain as per guidance set by the EPI management, including quality maintenance of the cold chain.
  • Guide the administration of the vaccination points on timely requests, and introduction of implementation staff to the minimal and maximal stock notion, based on previous months consumption and population catchment.
  • Introduce the vaccinators and the vaccination points’ directors to the electronic information system for EPI.
  • Guide with the support of partners waste management generated by vaccination activities.
  • Promote accountability of the Primary Healthcare Centers benefitting from subsidized vaccines and vaccination commodities about the vaccination status of the children living in their catchment area.
  • Ensure that vaccination is consistently delivered with other routine child health activities, such as growth monitoring or distribution of micronutrients.
  • Quality Reporting
  • Ensure that the validity of the documented data is pertinent and relevant to the vaccination process through regular revision of the reports received.
  • Coordinate and monitor data entry concerning all vaccination processes.
  • Conducting periodic field visits to all dispensaries to audit the documentation process.
  • Documentation of EPI activities per the guidance of EPI management.
  • Issue periodically EPI report to the central MoPH.

 

  • Operational Research
  • Check periodically through surveys or administrative data vaccination coverage of the children living in the district.
  • Other tasks related to the EPI program
  • Liaise with Municipalities, Mukhtar and Schools to establish the list of children 0-18 years living in the district.
  • Participate in the development and monitor EPI information Education and Communication activities.
  • Participate in development of microplans for routine EPI and Supplementary Immuization Activities (SIAs) including campaigns and Accelerated Immunization Activities decided by MoPH.
  • Building a team spirit and sense of interdisciplinary cooperation with the Qadaa Physician, the Public health officer and the information manager.
  • Perform other duties as required by PHC Department.

EDUCATION

Have a BS in Nursing.

Member of the Order of Nurses.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Have minimum 1-year experience in the nursing field with experience in vaccination. Preferably previous working with MoPH.

Good monitoring and reporting skills.

Ability to communicate well with all partners.

Ability to plan and prioritize the work load.

Coping with cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

Good computer skills.

Fluent in Arabic, English and/or French.

Holder of a Lebanese Nationality.
