Social Worker / Case Worker

Basmeh and Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Job Purpose : 

Act according to the guiding principles of Child Protection case management including: survivor centered approach, respect of confidentiality, prioritize according to safety concerns, ‘do not harm’, ensure a non-discriminatory approach, act according to the best interest of the child, ensure accountability, respect professional boundaries and avoid conflict of interest. Ensure that protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced and Provide direct support and care for vulnerable case with protection concerns (including survivors of gender-based violence), including psychosocial support and Case Management.

Work to strengthen the child protection policy in Basmeh & Zeitooneh, provision of psychosocial support for beneficiaries of all groups, identification of the necessary needs of beneficiaries and referring them to appropriate services.

Major Activities:

Case Management:

• Detect, counsel and follow up individual cases identified by B&Z team or referred by other agencies; or through community services and protection monitors where applicable.
• Conduct psychosocial assessment of vulnerable cases, including environmental, emotional, behavioral, and social factors as well as resources and strengths that impact the individual well- being.
• Ensure coordination and synergy with the main service providers in the area of intervention for prompt referral, follow up and information sharing;
• Manage, fill, archive specific forms for cases profiling, referral and weekly reporting ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor and follow up the outcome of the assistance provided.
• Provide basic emotional support for urgent cases.
  Ensure that data protection protocol is respected;
• Ensure the preparation of accurate case plans for high-risk cases identified with clearly outcomes and time-frame.
• Mapping of services in area of intervention and reporting information to Case Management officer
• Advocate with different institutions and services providers to help the beneficiaries to access needed resources and services.
• Implementation of case management in the intervention location in accordance with all CM steps and related tools and procedures as defined through B&Z Protection Strategy.
• Addressing high risk cases and sharing with Program Manager for possible intervention.
• Provide daily and weekly updates to the protection officer about new cases assessed.

Psychosocial Support:

• Organizing and facilitating psychosocial support sessions for adult groups of beneficiaries in the institution (especially women)
• Participating in student registration at the beginning of the school year to monitor the social, psychological and health aspect.
• Follow up on individual cases of children that need intervention, and provide advice to the educational team in dealing with these cases.
• Follow-up with the parents of the students to know the family situation and provide appropriate awareness and advice.
• Provision of psychosocial support sessions for Students caregivers.
• Provision awareness support sessions for students’ caregivers.
• Writing monthly reports that include referral report, awareness sessions, and psychosocial support.
• Referring beneficiaries into appropriate services inside and outside Basmeh &  Zeitooneh.

Key Performance Indicators :

• Working within the principles of the Code of Conduct.
• Ensuring that beneficiaries have access to the appropriate service.
• Ensuring that the Foundation’s team interacts with beneficiaries within the principles of the B&Z, especially preserving dignity and avoiding psychological harm.
• Achieving the required number of beneficiaries at the end of the program while ensuring the quality of work.
• Ensure that a safe environment is provided for the child in the institution and the school.
• Create positive communication with the team.

Delegation of Authority:

• Reporting in Case of any violation in Safe Guarding Policy

Education & Experience :

• University degree in a related field e.g. Social Work, Psychology or equivalent
• Minimum 2 year of relevant work experience
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel)
