Since 1998, IOM - the United Nations Migration Agency - provides Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people as well as to host communities in more than sixty countries, covering three main strategic objectives:
- Building the capacities of professionals, national institutions, international agencies, civil society organizations, etc.;
- Develop a network of MHPSS experts.
- Provide Psychosocial Support (PSS) services to migrant and crisis-affected populations.
In Lebanon, IOM implemented executive trainings with the Lebanese university and is planning to design new trainings based on the needs of the field. Thus, the consultant will be in charge of executing this assessment.
The purpose of the assessment is to examine the type of MHPSS training and education opportunities available in Lebanon and to identify gaps and needs to be addressed through IOM MHPSS capacity building program. The assessment will also include a series of key recommendations for the establishment and sustainability of the MHPSS training program with the Lebanese University including recommendations on mainstreaming and incorporating cross-cutting issues such as protection, gender and human rights.
Tasks to be performed under this assignment:
a) Lead the assessment of the training needs on MHPSS through exercises, such as desk research, focus group discussions, surveys, and/or key informant interviews (including interviews with government officials, universities, independent experts, NGOs and other relevant organizations);
b) Analyze the assessment results with IOM national officer.
c) Drafting a set of recommendations for the design of new MHPSS capacity building program.
d) Prepare the final report based on the findings.
f) Develop a list of MHPSS experts contacted during the assessment period (names, surnames, contact details) to serve as a pool of experts for any new capacity building project.

- Final training needs assessment report, with a set of recommendations for the establishment of new capacity building project.

· Complementary studies in MHPSS studies will be an advantage; Other formal education relevant for the assignment;
· At least 5 years of proven experience with similar assignments;
· Proven experience in developing analytical works, preferably in MHPSS related fields;
· Previous experience in conducting needs assessment;
· Experience in working with international organizations and UN agencies is an advantage;
· Strong analytical, writing and communication skills particularly in the field of interviewing;
· Good command of oral and written English.
