Psychotherapists for Beirut, South Lebanon, West Bekaa and Baalbeck (Mental Health and GBV projects)

Amel is looking for psychotherapists to support the implementation of its GBV and Mental Health projects in South Lebanon (Primary Health Care Centers of Bazourieh, Khiyam and Tyre), Bekaa (Kamed el Loz and Mashghara), Baalbeck (Douris and El Ain) and Beirut (Southern suburb centers). In each center, the psychotherapist will work in close coordination with the PHCC team, the GBV team, and more specifically, the social worker, the case worker and the psychiatrist.

Tasks and duties

• Function effectively as a member of the Community Mental Health Team in the PHCC (psychotherapist, psychiatrist, social worker) in coordination with the Mental Health coordinator.
• Collaborate with the PHC staff on the development and implementation of each patient’s coordinated mental health care/recovery plan
• Complete the appropriate intake, assessment, and ongoing monitoring in accordance with the policies and procedures for each consultation
• Be familiar with and work to consistently follow the treatment and timeframe guidelines within the condition-specific care pathways
• Be familiar with the use of all assessment tools, sensitivities/specificities, cut-off points, and use limitations
• Provide when needed, timely case management to patients accessing mental health services
• Conduct awareness sessions on mental health in the community
• Map the available services in the community and network with them for referrals
• Refer cases to other service providers as per the need
• Provide organized weekly reporting on mental health activities and collected data.
• Actively participate in weekly team meetings with the mental health coordinator.
• When necessary, visit the beneficiary’s place of residence to assess mental health needs.
• Participate in defining effective and culturally appropriate approaches and interventions at the community level.
• Conduct targeted mental health sensitization, public information sharing, and de stigmatization activities throughout the community.
• Conduct awareness session for women, men and children about mental health topics.
• In collaboration with the mental health team, develop and implement innovative mental health interventions and activities.
• Refer screened patients to the psychotherapist for counseling and psychotherapy through filling the referral form.
• Coordinate the administrative tasks regarding the appointments, follow up with beneficiaries regarding their appointment with the psychotherapist and psychiatrist
• Coordinate with other partners/NGOs in the regions to refer patients with mental health disorders to the Amel’s PHCC
