Psycho-social support expert

CONTEXT
IECD (Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement) is a French non-governmental organization
founded in 1988 and operating in the field of social and economic development in partnership with local
institutions. IECD’s main sectors of action are vocational training and professional integration, assistance to
micro and small enterprises and access to education and health for the most vulnerable. In Lebanon, IECD has
been operating in the country since 1988 and opened a regional office in Beirut in 2007.
Semeurs d’Avenir (SDA) is a Lebanese association, created in 2010, registered under the number 1905. It is the
operational partner of IECD in Lebanon.
The program aims to bring professional skills to young Lebanese and refugees through short-term (up to 4
months) vocational trainings targeting jobs with higher employment opportunities on the local labour market:
construction apprenticeship, maintenance, medical care assistance, esthetic among others. These trainings are
combined with a personal development component, which includes community activities and general
improvement of personal skills.
In the context of these activities, the implementation team and the trainers are working with particularly
vulnerable beneficiaries facing difficult situations. To support the team and develop its capacities to face such
challenges, IECD is recruiting a psychosocial support (PSS) expert.


MISSION
Under the responsibility of the livelihood program manager, the PSS expert will be responsible for the
following:
1/ Create, manage and follow up the organization’s PSS procedures.
- Build the PSS intervention procedures of the organization and create a referral system.
- Create tools for the implementation, follow-up and evaluation of the PSS activities and ensure their
relevance
- Train the teams to the usage of the procedures and tools.
2/ Capacity building of the operational team
- Train the staff and the trainers on the basics of PSS and the procedures.
- Train the staff to safe referrals.
- Follow up of the team and the trainers, organize ad hoc trainings when needed.
3/ Operational and technical support on all activities related to PSS.
- Assess the needs of the team members and the trainers.
- Define a clear scope of intervention for each member of the team and for the trainers.
- Support the team on the implementation of the activities when facing specific difficulties with the
beneficiaries / Attend technical and life skills sessions during the trainings to identify the PSS needs of
beneficiaries.
- Manage and support the referral activity.
- Develop and implement awareness sessions in selfcare and mental health for the trainees attending
the Caregiver training.
4/ Build and animate a network of partners.
- Build a localized mapping of organizations implementation PSS and mental health activities and keep it
updated.
- Identify potential partners and build partnerships for referral with relevant organizations.
- Be the PSS focal point of the partners and represent the organization on events related to PSS and
mental health.


PROFILE
Education: Master’s degree in clinical or educational psychology required
PSS trainings and certification would be a plus
Trained in a therapeutic approach would be a plus


Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the health and/or humanitarian domain
- PSS experience is required
- Working experience in a multicultural context
- Experience in coordinating and training teams
- Experience in curricula development and training design would be a plus


Skills:
- Proficiency in the Arabic language (oral / written) mandatory
- Good oral and writing skills in English mandatory / French is a plus
- Team coordination skills
- Ease of work on Excel is required
- Understanding and / or appeal for education and vocational training issues
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills, good contact with disadvantaged beneficiaries


Qualities:
- Autonomy, dynamism, proactivity; responsiveness and flexibility
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to manage intercultural relations
- Sense of organization, human relations, and teamwork
- Adherence to IECD values
