Psychologist

The Primary Health Care Center psychologist will be conducting psychological assessments to persons of concern who are identified by the social worker. The psychologist will develop treatment plans for individuals assessed with mild to moderate mental disorders in a participatory approach and provide them with psychological counseling or psycho-social support in accordance with their treatment plans. Individuals with severe mental disorders will be referred to Restart's specialized MH Center in Tripoli. 

  • Conduct rapid psychosocial needs assessments with child and adult with mild to moderate mental disorders.
  • Provide individual and group psychosocial support to adult and child approaching the PHCC in Akkar.
  • Actively collaborates with Restart Center’s multidisciplinary team. 
  • Administers assessments to adult and/or child beneficiaries at baseline, throughout the course of treatment, and at the end of treatment.
  • Prepares a treatment plan for each beneficiary and does adjustments if/when needed.
  • Conducts individual counselling and therapy sessions with beneficiaries to address symptoms and treatment progress.
  • Submits record sheets for each session conducted with the beneficiary.
  • Submits a discharge plan for each beneficiary who has completed the course of treatment.
  • Submits mental health reports concerning some beneficiaries (upon request).
  • Submits evaluation sheets and follow-up checklists on a monthly basis using a pre-assigned template.
  • Does home visits (for urgent cases) if needed.
  • Participates in team meetings, seminars, peer supervisions, case studies and capacity building opportunities. 
  • Participates in care-for-caregivers activities (including debriefing sessions). 
  • Attends individual supervision sessions with Restart Center’s Clinical Advisor (once per month). 
  • Follows Restart Center’s policies and bylaws.

Qualifications:

    • Clear understanding of DSM-5 and ICD-11 diagnoses.
    • License from MOPH for the practice of the profession of Psychologist in Lebanon
    • Clear understanding and execution of the “do no harm” and “non-discrimination” principles.
    • Ability to work under pressure and within strict timelines.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Considerable work experience (3-6 years) with marginalized communities of diverse backgrounds (trauma survivors, SGBV survivors, refugees and so forth).
    • Integrity, honesty, flexibility and a good team worker.
    • Fluency in verbal and written Arabic and English (understanding of French is an asset).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
