Advocacy Officer

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

• Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, international relations, or a related field;
• At least 2-3 years proven knowledge and experience of development and delivery of advocacy and campaigning strategies;
• Experience in Advocacy work for public causes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proven networking skills, and ability to generate interest in Public Works’s strategies.
• Proven knowledge and experience of the legislative and policy-making system in Lebanon;
• Knowledge of institutions related to urbanism is a plus, as well as current actors in the reconstruction of the neighborhoods affected by the port explosion;
• The ability to develop good working relationships
• Demonstrates very good understanding of and experience in communications and outreach/advocacy;
• Skillful in the Arabic and English language

Role & area of contribution:

• Build and maintain relationships with policy actors (international organisations, local organisations, media, lawyers, activists, academics, etc.).
• Engage with partners to build and cultivate strategic partnerships to leverage advocacy opportunities with government leadership, Ministries, other implementing partners.
• Support the development of Public Works’s advocacy strategy and lead on delivery of agreed advocacy objectives.
• Support the advocacy and campaigning activities of Public Works
• Develop and utilize advocacy channels for the organization to achieve relevant advocacy objectives;
• Periodically assess existing partnerships and membership in networks and coalitions;
• Attend and organize meetings and discussions with partners;
• Identify opportunities for collaboration and reach out to groups or organizations or activists, to introduce Public Works’ advocacy work and assess possibilities of collaboration;
• Remain updated on all Public Work’s projects and liaise with heads of departments.
