GIS Officer for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit

Main Roles

LRC is seeking to expand the Reporting by focusing on enhancing the existing suites of reports & GIS Applications, and developing related decision support tools. The GIS Officer executes all aspects of the DRR Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-related projects.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Review and prepare business requirements analyses and process efficiency tools on GIS.
• Design, develop, configure, and support GIS applications and building visualizations and data collection applications
• Establish and manage GIS database structure, tables, forms, and reports of GIS data for the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit.
• Work on the development of dashboard(s).
• Compile statistics for monthly reports as directed by the DRR Manager.
• Compile Geographic Data from a variety of sources upon request.
• Compile statistics, maps, charts as required by the Operational and Programs Sectors/Sections.
• Provide training to ensure effective adoption and autonomous support of new tools that are deployed, including training design and training delivery.
• Provide training to support optimization of administrative processes.
• Manage and attend training seminars internally and externally.
• Participate in LRC data audit and data quality assurance. 
• Coordinate with DRR team to develop materials needed for public meetings, workgroups, council meetings, and other meetings as needed.

Function Specific Experience

• Experience in conducting systems requirements analyses, design and development of decision support tools.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL or any other database tool.
• Experience in remote sensing.
• Working experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is an asset.
